What a fun Zoo Tycoon type of game! I was really sad once I realized I had built a pen for every animal type, including one pen of guests, and had nothing more to do. Really hope to see this expanded upon in the future, really enjoyable start.

Thank you for the feedback on the barricades! Our artist took another go at them and I tweaked the time before they show on screen to make the notifications longer. We'd love to get into some more detail with you! https://discord.gg/gA5FNY8

We've done a big change to the colors and it adds a lot of depth to the graphics! We'd love to talk shop with you https://discord.gg/gA5FNY8

Thanks to you, we've patched out those bugs, and added in the ability to cancel a pause! Which wasn't even something I had considered before you brought it up, but after implementing it I find myself using it all the time, so thank you very much! We'd love to talk to you about what else we're adding. https://discord.gg/gA5FNY8

I want to send another thanks for the input! Since the jam version of the game we've added in a lot more things that make you want to hit that pause button, and even a couple things that require it!

We've been keeping up the great effort for good sound design, and we'd love to talk to you about it personally! https://discord.gg/gA5FNY8

We've got a lot more than just cars, now!

And this gif is still using an old palette! Things are looking even nicer now. If you want to jump on our discord we'd be happy to chat! https://discord.gg/gA5FNY8

We took your criticism of the visuals very seriously, and our visual artist went through 2 entire palette overhauls to get things looking right. We really appreciate the feedback, as it helped the game look better than ever! That's not the only bit from your input we took, we'd love to chat some more with you about how the game's been updating. https://discord.gg/gA5FNY8

Hello again! We've taken a great deal of community feedback while working on the full version of the game, and now we're excited to start talking to people about the game in more detail, especially with some other devs! https://discord.gg/gA5FNY8 You seemed to like the game more than anyone, so we hope to see you around!

Windows 10 64-bit

I want some more! This game felt creative as hell, and the amount of polish on it already is surprising.

One room had me stumped for quite a while, because I didn't realize the screens would light up when I got near them.

(1 edit)

Sometimes the random generation of who spawns in what window can be very mean! I had one game that started with 2 robbers at each window, I got one and then another spawned. But a very cute game all the same! I loved seeing the various people looks through the windows.

Superhot and Mirrors Edge had a baby, and here's that baby. There's very obvious areas where it's rough around the edges, but the core gameplay feels good to pull off. Just please no more jumping puzzles, jumping platforms in an FPS is so difficult Q^Q

A turn based stealth game with pretty decent AI! Running away from a perusing robot was always a challenge, and getting past them (especially if you can get out the door with them chasing you :P) feels great. The sound effects in this game seemed very loud to me, and the game has no other sound aside from your few actions, and when the robot move. Some tense music would certainly fill that space!

I have no idea why it doesn't run, but when the .exe is clicked, it opens a command prompt and then closes itself.

Everything is easy to use, it's straightforward, but challenging. Very exciting game! I got all 800$ with an accuracy of 47.84% on my best try. I would love if there was something more in this game, the one level isn't enough!

I really like this concept! I would have played more, but after so many deaths the long restart time started to get to me.

This game did not run for me

Fun physics game! I enjoyed watching the rolls bounce around

Fun, and the presentation is oddly satisfying. The music is slow, but tense, and the game is pretty hard. It was easy to restart, though, so I was motivated to finish!

We're glad you liked it! We plan to start updating this game since it got such decent feedback, and we're already piecing together ways to make the pause genuinely needed. Stay tuned for more!

Nothing like chaining up a bunch in a row and causing a 5 car pileup!

This was a lot of fun! The quiet puzzle solving wasnt ruined by the time limit because of the pause feature, and the puzzles weren't impossible! The mouse speed was very high to me, though, made it hard to move around.

A really challenging concept! I'd love to see this idea expanded on. This game would have been less frustrating if the moving platforms actually carried you with them.

And after 4 different beta testers! Guess that still wasn't quite enough for all the bugs :P We're glad that you had a fun time with Hit the Brakes!

I love the marble madness feel this has! the pause time unfortunately didn't work for me.

A superlative idea! I think I'll even start working on a new thumbnail now! We're so happy you enjoyed the game :D

This game feels so good to control! Fantastic use of the limitation.

I couldn't seem to get the pause mechanic to work, but seemed like a neat idea!

Very fun way to make a rather small level feel huge! Had a great time with this game, really made me think. I was glad when a few of my assumptions for the commandline shorthands actually worked! I would love it if they were shortened even more to things like "m f" and "t r"

Really want to see more of this! Some good sound design would make this feel so much more tense. The use of the pause mechanic feels natural, and good to use.

This would be my favorite game in the jam if it used the required constraint. despite the art style, this game manages a fantastic presentation, and the mechanics were original as hell. They could be tightened up a little, as sometimes aiming tools was very difficult.

Decent core gameplay's in this, but it's very very short, and the levels are large with very little direction. I would love to see more of this come around with tighter levels, and maybe some more upbeat music!

We appreciate the input! I toyed around with the barricades a lot, but keeping them easy to see on the road was very hard, that's why I added the notifications for where they are off screen, but that still seemed to get a lot of people by surprise.

You do die at -1 hearts, I always liked games that give you the 0 life, but maybe here it was confusing.

If customizable keybinds didn't take so long, I'd have added that in, too!

We happy you liked driving fast from the law!

Very solid mechanics! Using a pause mechanic as the fighting mechanic was brilliant. With some sound effects, music, and a little more visual detail I could see myself playing this for a while! Especially if there was a score system.

Very good! Single only complaint I had was having to restart from the game beginning on death. This entire little game is such a blast.

I had so much more fun with this game than I expected! It's surprising how excited you get when you're at low stamina and the next floor is appearing and you're just hoping it's a loiter so you can get some stam back. If this game had more going on visually and aurally, it'd be a really full experience.
