What a great game. Feels like an old style arcade game which is great. More weapons please :) Some smaller levels to ease the player in would be a great addition, and a skill level so us poor game players have a bit more of a chance :) The idea of the blob spreading is great and very sell done, as is the great little shake of the buildings. Please keep working on it Kilted it deserves more work as what you have so far is fantastic. Loved it.
Think that your game has one of my fav looks and styles in the jam, very unique graphic look, love it. Game was great fun to play and the whole smoothness of the game makes it feel very enjoyable to play. Again would love to see more levels and weapons for this.
Production levels are very high, everything works very well and feels very polished.
Great fun game, brought back Gauntlet memories. Really nice graphic style as well. Would love to see this game with more animations on the main character and also would love to be able to kill things properly, I know the the theme got in the way a bit but would really add to the fun if you could blast loads of baddies.
I really hope you continue working on this adding new levels to explore as well. Congrats on great game that is really well put together.
Mels, it's so nice to read your comment, it means an awful lot coming from someone with your talents. I mean just look at what you did on Jern's SHART game :)
There is so much wrong in the demo due to the deadline and having to get something out that I can't watch it being played at the moment, so busy working on an update to make it something I am happy with so do check back later.
Thanks for the screenies as well, I think the replay mode is my fav bit at the moment, its much better with more interesting levels, the fun bit of the game is getting the big jumps right.
Thanks Marcus. I saw you managed to find several bugs in double quick time. Busy beavering away on the fuxed version. The game was designed for a game pad but there are key controls but seems I missed adding a key for gears so that will be fixed. We will also make the first levels a bit more interesting, we just ran out of time to get it all working and properly tested :) Have to say hating watching people play a product I know has issues.
What an amazing game for 2 weeks work. Having multiplayer in a game like this for a Jam game is astounding and that it works so well is even more amazing. So much time and love has gone into this game to craft something so unique both gameplay wise and visually. Everything being created by the team is also so great to see. So much talent and such a fun game you should all be very proud, I know I would be.
Thanks Ninjapus for playing. Tony has updated the controls graphic for the camera key controls. Yeah the last minute rush we missed the default camera starting a bit far of target when the car is not moving, as you speed up though the camera does move to a better position. There are a fair few different camera views you can select with the Page Up/Down keys or trigger buttons on a pad. Or if you dont like any of those F1 will switch to a more traditional orbit/chase camera which you can position whereever you want.
The aim of the game was our take on a 2D Hill Climb game but with a bit more interesting visuals so the camera angle is a kind of hybrid between straight 2D side view and full 3d racing game camera.
Thanks Robots for the review and the compliment of thinking we just ported it :) I will add a section on the controls but it is basic driving controls. It is not a port of anything the only items that existed before the Jam were 2 car models and a tyre mesh builder. All the code, ui, models and the game was created during the Jam :) The levels start simple to ease the player in, in the later levels the tracks get harder to drive and you have to judge your speed and jumps. In the final version you can swap lanes etc.
The game is our take on the Hillclimb genre which is just a simple drive in a straight line we just wanted to make it more interesting to look at.
The theme part is the car gets more and more damaged as you progress but will keep running, doesnt die on you. You will be able to repair and tune the car as you play to keep it alive. As the car gets more and more damaged more and more parts fall off etc.
There is a section on the Discord where you can look for team members https://discord.gg/FTFhCM5
Always liked a physics based game from the early bridge builders and on so love the concept of this game, and it is done well but could really do with a tutorial or guide of some kind so players can get into the game quicker. With that done and little more time on the graphics this will be a great game and will do well I am sure. Going back to try again :)
Another very well produced game, quality assets and very nice lighting and rendering, very atmospheric. The fighting reminded me of Battling Robots old fashioned game from years ago, great fun, would like to see more reaction from the punches to make it more satisfying, a few sparks would nice as well, and def more combos street fighter style. Great game the should be worked on more, would be really fun, my only request is lose the foot step sound or add some variation to it, I had to turn the sound off as it got very annyoing very quick :)
Artwork is excellent, style is lovely, and the game is really well put together, very polished and professional looking. I had problems being able to move anything and I couldnt figure out how to research the Iron and Copper when it became available, so was just stuck a little making robots which I could't move easily, this will be a great defense game with a little more work, great fun already will be awesome.
Love the look of this game, and the concept is a fun one, would be great for VR, the interaction with the pieces could be a bit better, maybe it would benefit from a snap to place when the player gets close for the first level at least so players dont give up. Great concept and a lot of scope for added gameplay.
This is a great puzzle game, some really nice art work and satisfying to play. I would like to see a bigger playing area so you can move the pieces about to clear the deck a bit, also snapping to the piece and not the position would be a great improvement, and also being able to move all connected pieces as one would really make this a great fun game.
