Just Another Runner

Just Another Runner Out Now

Take a quick, enigmatic run up memory lane. Don't even think about slowing down, 'cause the present surely won't.

Run, jump, slide and boost your way up memory lane in a short exploration of nostalgia.

Come on up and stay a while...

lol it's tempting

Heyo! Looking for some general feedback on the demo I just dropped for my upcoming game "Just Another Runner".

The demo contains the first cutscene and level of the game. Let me know what you think and what could be polished up a bit. Full release coming March 31st.

Impressive for just 10 hours. I think it would greatly benefit from better communication as to what causes a game over on certain mini-games.

Thank you

I like the risk vs reward of your own turrets aiming at the player and being injured by your own bullets. The enemy telegraphing is also well implemented into the character designs. I think making everything snappier would greatly benefit, though. Felt a bit floaty.

Thanks. That means a ton to me.

Good introduction to overall goal and encouragement of constant movement with a really likeable arcade feel.

Thank you so much! I gave your game a try and it has fantastic presentation as well.

Overall presentation is great. I also really like the tradeoff of choosing between ammo and health in the midst of battle. I do think it was a little easy, however, as I was just circling around shooting then waiting for health or ammo to drop at a certain point. Good work, though.

Thank you! Yes each level is completed by pushing to the enemy line, or "trench entrance" at the top of the screen.

The art style is something to behold

This is my submission to the 2021 Bullet-Hell Jam: Trench Hounds. Trench Hounds is a delicate dance through hell on earth where bodies pile up and the bullets never stop. Command your army of trench hounds to push forward by carving a path with their bodies as meat-shields through no man’s land and an onslaught of enemy ordnance so that you may pass through safely. Don’t worry about how many it takes. They're just resources.

Damn this is cool. Only thing I could think of possibly changing would be to make the character you play as a different color than everyone else rather than just have everyone else's opacity turned down. Really simple and solid, though.

Very easy to get into and stick with (I played a few rounds). Visually clean despite the chaos on screen, as well. The implementation of the theme is is a good idea but there were rarely any times I could survive long enough to build up a charge. Maybe a smaller, less effective secondary attack would be useful while building up the big charge? Pretty good overall, though!

Love the visuals. This would make a great mobile game

Pretty solid! I stayed longer than I imagined I would. With a few tweaks in tone, it could definitely have a Katamari meets Goat Simulator feel

Thanks! Really digging the aesthetics of your game as well

Thanks, that means a lot
