Wow thank you so much, man. This comment just made my day!

Thank you!! The moving platforms are actually NPC's  with their AI set to move left and right. I tried so hard to figure out how to make the player be able to jump off of them, but ended up having to make them look "sticky" on the top to communicate to the player that you couldn't jump off them lol

Very interesting art style, I admit I was a little turned off at first because I could not tell which tiles were safe or not but the more I played it the more I liked it. The music was really, really cool. I still have that first level track stuck in my head :) I eventually made it to the toaster boss and got him good! Good job!

Thank you for making that comment, I could not figure out how to get through that tunnel of spikes. That powerup is cool, it is kind of like the "hover" mechanic used by one of the character in Little Samson.

No problem man, I meant every word. I am glad I participated too, it was a month of insanity but it really put a fire under my ass to get something together and I am glad I did it.

Thank you for your response. Yeah it always takes me a while to get that extra life. The trick is to make your first bounce on the pearl as high as possible :) I think I will lower the extra life down a tile after the competition, though. Congrats on finding those first 3 parts and yes, you are right, the 4th part is past the docks (in the lab).  That's a great suggestion about enemy health drops/pickups, I will definitely be adding those! Lastly, if you do get stuck when playing through again, check these maps out:

Thank you so much for the kind words! Quick question,  were you able to make it to the end of the demo? I'm worried that people are just playing a little bit of the first level and then calling it quits because they aren't sure where to go. I included in-game clues to guide people towards the machine parts but I am not sure if they are obvious enough.

There were sooooo many awesome submissions but after playing through them all my favorites are:

1000 stars
Cooperating Systems
Chaos Between Realms
Fox Hunt
Magnilo
Paws N' Play
Rick Starfield
Spacewalk 3030

There is so much great music to choose from but the games with music that stood out to me are:

1000 Stars
Chronoknight
Chaos between realms
Paws N' Play
Paws of the West
Spacewalk 3030 (Really unique use of noise channel to create a cool atmosphere)

Hey guys, if you are having trouble finding the Time Machine Parts in Level 1 and Level 2 (the only levels in the demo), consult these maps:

Nice work, man! I really liked this one!

Wow! This was so much fun! I can't believe how much polish this game already in just a month. The combat felt great and I loved the pixel art and animations.  The music was very fitting and catchy too. Really looking forward to seeing a full release of this.

This is such an ambitious game man, kudos to you. I really had a lot of fun with this one.  Of course with a game this unique and complex there are going to be some bugs but I am sure you  will make quick work of those. Can't wait to see this game continue to evolve.

Very unique theme for a game. I really like the pixel art too. I like the way the flame moves, shoots, and jumps too. It all flows very well.

Really enjoyed this one. Some real eye-catching visuals. I really like that character select screen too. I see the beginnings of some sort of item shop too which is very exciting.

Fantastic artwork and animation. I see a little contra influence in there with the jumping animation. Eager to see how this game develops.

This game is definitely in my top 3 man. Between the ability to pickup objects and throw them and those third person shooting sections, I am just amazed. Great job!

I really like what I see so far! I am interested to see this game evolve.

Loved the theme and loved beating up on that snowman at the end! The graphics are quite nice and unique as well. Great job!

Very fun and addicting. Had a very high level of polish too.  You really captured the old school arcade game feel.  I really had a blast playing through this!

Top notch artwork and animations!! Can't wait to see this game continue to develop!

Wow! The player and enemy art/animations are freaking awesome!  I really like the opening dialogue too. I will definitely be checking up on how this game is progressing after the competition.

Really enjoyed playing this game. The player animates very well and feels great to control. It is also very satisfying to kill monsters. It looks like a shop and magic abilities are something you are planning to add too which is really cool. Nice job!

I love the art style and the dark atmosphere in this game.  I am excited to see how the story unfolds too!

I really liked the tone and humor in this game! Your player's running animation is smooth as silk too man.  I really liked that there were two endings. The "real" ending is hilarious! Great job!

Very cool game! Graphics look fantastic. The movement, melee attack and projectiles feel very polished. The enemies are unique and fun to destroy. I really like your use of hide behind tiles too. It really gives the game a sense of depth.  Great job!

This was a really cool demo that sets the stage for future games. I like the "doodle-style" graphics as well and the dialogue was really funny. Looking forward to seeing what this series becomes!

Great idea and great execution! I love games like this. It had just the right amount of challenge for me to continue trying until I beat it. That is the sign of a well-made arcade-style game. Love the visuals too. Great job!

Love the look and feel of this game! I can foresee so many cool puzzles/level design choices based around the egg laying mechanic too! Excellent job!

I really liked this game a lot. The graphics are cartoony but very nice. The cutscenes and title screen were awesome. I really liked the upgrade system too, kind of metroidvania-ish in that regard. The music was fantastic and very fitting. I was encountering a fair amount of bugs, but that is to be expected with a game of this complexity. I am sure you will get them ironed out as you continue to work on it.  Great job!

Really cool game that took me by surprise! I like the simplistic graphical style and I really liked the different ways that you messed with the player.  The "kill screen" level at the end was really challenging to navigate through but rewarding. Great job!

This was right up my alley. I love the dark tone and the melding of multiple genres. The melee combat felt pretty damn smooth too.  Loved the RNG aspect of it too, it makes every playthrough different. Graphics were amazing and that intro screen is beautiful. Great job!

I love the art style and the theme.  You managed to have everything look really, really clear even with a limited palette. The dialogue is great too! The music was also very fitting and memorable. I really liked playing through this one!

Very fun and beautiful looking game! The dashing feels good and the slashing is very satisfying. I am impressed how you managed to make bosses that large. I am guessing they are background tiles and you are scrolling the screen? The music is sick too!

Loved the intro, the title screen and just the general tone of the game. I got my ass handed to me because I kept getting stunned by the little robot spawns. I did manage to beat him though! Nice job!

Dude, this game is without a doubt one of my top 3 favorite submissions.  The artwork is beautiful,  the dash and combat feels great, and it has just the right amount of a "puzzle" aspect to it. Finding that last key on the final part of the demo was tough but i'm glad I took the time to search for it.  Great job!

Thank you so much man! I was actually just getting on to comment on the last few demos I played and yours was of them as well (I'll leave my detailed comments on your submission page,  but in short, it was freaking amazing).

Yeah I actually ended up using a sprite hud even though it might look like a tile hud.  The labels are tiles but everything else is a sprite.

And unfortunately I had to change the continue screen right before I submitted the game so that it just reset the game regardless of your choice.  It was supposed to send you back to the last checkpoint when you hop into the "yes" portal but I couldn't figure out a way to "untrigger" the screens that contained the time machine parts so I just changed both portals so they reset the game :( I plan on fixing that this week.

Wow, just wow! Perfect melding of genres. It's like an RPG and a Shmup rolled into one.  Love the deep ,  meaningful dialog too. The melee weapon is siiiick. Kinda reminds me of radiant silvergun for sega saturn in that regard.  And that ending . .  chills. Great job man! Definitely one of my favorites out of the whole competition.

Dude thank you so much, I'm really glad you enjoyed it! You  wanna know something hilarious? I literally just got on my computer to comment about the last few demos I played and yours was one of them.  In short,  I freaking loved it! I'll post more on your submission page :)
