Great music and art! The gameplay felt nice and crispy. I cant wait to see where you take this project!
Love the story and gameplay was challenging and fun. That music though. That takes me back.
Thank you so much for the kind words! Quick question, were you able to make it to the end of the demo? I'm worried that people are just playing a little bit of the first level and then calling it quits because they aren't sure where to go. I included in-game clues to guide people towards the machine parts but I am not sure if they are obvious enough.
I have not passed it yet. I have gotten first the 3 parts, and assume the 4th is on the docks, but I got killed by second shark. I'd recommend adding some health pick ups, or make enemies occasionally drop health pick up. I gave up on trying to get that extra life too, I always die trying jump on the pearls to reach it. I will pass it though. Nice challenge.
Thank you for your response. Yeah it always takes me a while to get that extra life. The trick is to make your first bounce on the pearl as high as possible :) I think I will lower the extra life down a tile after the competition, though. Congrats on finding those first 3 parts and yes, you are right, the 4th part is past the docks (in the lab). That's a great suggestion about enemy health drops/pickups, I will definitely be adding those! Lastly, if you do get stuck when playing through again, check these maps out:

Nice use of the timeless theme. Fun character, story, and intro... and you have working animal platforms, nice.
Thank you!! The moving platforms are actually NPC's with their AI set to move left and right. I tried so hard to figure out how to make the player be able to jump off of them, but ended up having to make them look "sticky" on the top to communicate to the player that you couldn't jump off them lol
Hey guys, if you are having trouble finding the Time Machine Parts in Level 1 and Level 2 (the only levels in the demo), consult these maps:

This was really entertaining. I am amazed you got things to work that I wasn't able to like the health and I love how you made the continue screen. good job!
Thank you so much man! I was actually just getting on to comment on the last few demos I played and yours was of them as well (I'll leave my detailed comments on your submission page, but in short, it was freaking amazing).
Yeah I actually ended up using a sprite hud even though it might look like a tile hud. The labels are tiles but everything else is a sprite.
And unfortunately I had to change the continue screen right before I submitted the game so that it just reset the game regardless of your choice. It was supposed to send you back to the last checkpoint when you hop into the "yes" portal but I couldn't figure out a way to "untrigger" the screens that contained the time machine parts so I just changed both portals so they reset the game :( I plan on fixing that this week.
I love the music, reggae/dub with great bass and very unique. I also liked the visual style, I like games set around beaches and I like that you throw your hat as a weapon. Cool HUD also.
Dude thank you so much, I'm really glad you enjoyed it! You wanna know something hilarious? I literally just got on my computer to comment about the last few demos I played and yours was one of them. In short, I freaking loved it! I'll post more on your submission page :)
Fun game, That screen with the crabs and the beach balls is tough. Great intro!
Thanks a lot for the kind words! Yeah I might need to scale back the difficulty or add more checkpoints as I refine it lol
Not a fan of having to start from the beginning of the level each time, but you get a high rating just for that intro story.
I appreciate the feedback! Glad you liked the intro story. I figured I would go the ridiculous, tongue-and-cheek route rather than serious :) And maybe I will add a "halfway" marker on each level in the full release, that's not a bad idea.
