Yes, please do this. If someone finds a bug and I can fix it, I will still do it. I will not let it fall like a hot potato 😊and try to give support and fixing bugs if they get reported.

But the last year I got mostly only 2 Bugs reported, which I couldn’t fix. The drawing bug in the 3D view, I couldn’t repeat it or find a reason why this only happen on some systems, and the bug with the crash at start, which is mostly a problem with the engine \ driver itself. Most people could fix it by updating driver.

Otherwise, I didn’t get much bug reports, maybe because the interest on the software itself was not so big. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Hi Zellator,

okay, so I never said the I problems with Godot wokeness. I mean since years they made rainbow flags everywhere and changed the discord icon regularly to it. So, for me it was always clear that Godot is “woke”, and I had absolutely no problem with that.

But I have a massive problem in how they handled it. Blocking people who just said, they should focus on the engine, is censorship and totalitarianism. Just look at the twitter post they blocked. A lot of them are neutral!
There is a reason Redot was pushed out now, even if they planned already a long time to do it, but it was just a plan so far, as I understood. And the Feedback to it was huge and massively positive.

And YES, I have a personal problem with censorship and totalitarianism, for me it doesn’t matters from which side there are coming, left or right! I don’t want to live in a world, where other people tell me, what I have to think. And as I said the Godot Foundation supports in MY eyes this censorship and totalitarianism by keeping this CM and the non-apology apology. The CM failed on each aspect of the job.

Yes, it’s made by volunteers. But, did you see that a lot of people moved to Redot? I must be honest; I don’t understand totally how this works with the forks (Will they benefit from each other? Or will they separate more and more?), but if a part of the community separates, I assume it’s a problem. And as I posted before they said by themselves, that they have less people for the render pipeline work already.

So, of course, it’s the sum of all the problems I mentioned. But this Drama showed me, which way Godot will still going! And yes, I will see this also as a chance to evolve myself and learn something new. I was already long time not sooo happy with Godot anymore.

Please understand me, this “drama” is not the only reason, but it is a reason and a big catalyst for it. Like the maker of redot said.
I also think, like mentioned on X(twitter), this action is, more or less, a purge and the community will drift more in one direction.

We have different opinions, on the amount of impact, this will have to the Engine and this is legit. But from my point of view, this will be a bigger one. I guess such dramas will repeat even if they will not all be public. Also, because the CM seem to be “on the right at this point”, it will get more conflicts.

And to the last part you wrote: “If you don't want to be involved in drama then just don't. …“ I need to say I do, I will not post anything more about it or get more involved. BUT I will always respond to my customers here on Itch.io try to explain my decisions. I will not be involved in any conversation about this outside of it.

No, by far not. ^^
But I have a Problem with the result out of it and the future of Godot.

I also have no problem with the start post of the CM from Godot itself. I have a problem with the reaction to other posts they had, the answer of the Godot foundation and what impact this will have on the future of Godot. Also only one side was blocked while the other was much more extremist and had a much more violent\nasty language. If you do this, do it on both sides!

And personally, I don't want to be part of an activist group that is even "supported" by the Godot Foundation. <- Just my personal feelings ;-)

Sorry, I'm also trying not to write too long replies anymore, because it seems, that some people can't extract the important information out from them and maybe misunderstand me. Or, maybe it's just because English is not my native language. :)

first I need to say, the software still works and will be still available in the future. When you bought the software? So, I need to check at which time you bought the software, because if it’s to long time ago, it will be hard, because I also must pay taxes and give itch.io there part.
Also, until now I didn’t get a refund request from itch.io. Did you start this request already?

If it was recently, I will have no problem with a refund.

And to the rest of you post, I would like to say some small things to it:
As you can see, I started already with the Union Bytes Painter 2024 Version, I also increased the performance. And I was happy to work on it again, I had fun.
Of course, this incident was not the only reason, but It’s the current biggest one and pissed me of.
Especially the reaction from the Godot Foundation is a pure joke! Aside from this, I waited a really long time for a requested features like drawable textures or texture buffers, which would increase the possibles for this a lot like size and performance. But they use to much energy for politics and their agenda/activism, with this they lost a lot of contributors.
Just on 23 September 2024 they (Godot) wrote: “As a reminder, we are always in need of more help. The rendering team is very small and none of us are working on the renderer full-time. …”

For me, what they did was super stupid and unnecessary. And if I can’t work with one group of people, then it’s the stupid ones or people who are blinded by any ideology! In order to communicate with someone, I need a minimum of logical thinking skills. 
If Godot want to be an activist and ban everyone wo says "Focus on the engine!", okay, but without me!

I’m already long time with Godot, I guess it was since 2019, before this I wrote my own OpenGL \ Vulkan Engine. I was always unhappy with the way\speed it developed. But the community was cool, and the Engine is light weighted.
This was the last straw! I don’t get the features I need, and they divide the community further.

No, sorry. You need to take the extra Step, by exporting it to obj.

Mhh, must be a problem with the exported obj. file. Can you send me the obj file to support@unionbytes.de. I will look at the weekend on it. Do you export it with Blender?

More or less, yes.
You can select Faces-\UV-Islands with the Selection tool to draw only on this one. But single faces are not, you just have to use the normal rectangle selection tool.

 You can work with textures up to 512 x 512 this is the maximum resolution but it’s possible.

yes the problem I know, this is kind of GODOT problem.

The same problem I have with the brush preview, so tricked a bit around in the preview shader to get as close as possible.

I will happily watch you stream on the weekend and looking forward to it. It’s always nice to see other people use the software.

I also planned to do tutorials, but I don’t like my voice ^^ and I'm never alone at home, so it's allays noisy. But I really need to make some, because It looks like a lot of people can’t find all features. And I want to have tutorials to give the people a feeling for the workflow, how I made my stuff. Like the creating and useful using of own decals. etc.

Mhh I don't understand this. I extra bought a AMD Radeon RX 7600 to test it with the newest AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition for Radeon™ RX 7600 Win 11 Driver and everything works fine. I don't understand it and I cant reproduce the Error with my system. I wasted 300 € for nothing :(

Okay, that's bad. 

I need to organize an AMD card soon, because I never heard problems with Nvidia cards which I have.

Currently I can't test it because I don't have an AMD card, I just can hope they fix this soon.

It's currently not planned to switch to Godot 4. But as soon a new Godot 3.x Version is out i will update it, in hope it will help.

Hio, it was meant for the created files.

But it's just a text I found in the Internet, because it is is early access and I wanted to be safe. But the file system is finished and there a no problems.

I guess I will remove this part with the next update when I will have time.

To #1: Yes I know this bug, but unfortunately I can’t reproduce this bug. I have 3 different Systems and on none of these systems I got the bug. It must be problem with Godot and the Event-Handling on this system. I spend already a lot of time to find the problem, but it’s hard when I can’t reproduce the bug. But I will stay on it.

To #2: The work of the Mirror (only in 2D) was on purpose. Because I thought the program is made to use just for pixel art, but if you mirror in 3D it can causes some problems with the pixel positioning \ pixel shifts.

To #3: The FBX file importer is a bit complex one. I also thought about it, but I would need to find a C# import library which is easy to implement. Also, I don’t know how it is with the licensing.

Thank you. As soon I have some time, I will check it out. But I can't promise anything ^^ because I have also no experience with Linux. I'm already happy, that I could setup a linux pc which can run my programm :)

Yeah, the clear button was intentionally made for just clearing the whole layer. I will add a button for clearing single channels in the future.
The reset you mean for the base layer, that’s true the base layer should be reset to the base values instead to clear it. I will fix this; this is more like a bug^^.
It is not planed to move to Godot 4, they changed so much, it would take to much time to port it. Also, since the birth of my son, I don’t have so much time anymore then i thought. I will be more focusing on bug fixing, in the bit free time I have on side of my main job and family.

Do your System fits the System requirements:

Windows 64 bit or Linux 64 bit (Tested with Ubuntu 22.04 LTS) Min. 8 GB RAM Dedicated Graphics Card with OpenGl 3.3 or later Support  Microsoft .NET Framework 4.7.2 or later CPU with min. 4 Cores / 4 Threads?

For me important is especially the Dedicated Graphics Card.

But I don't want to give the source code out. There is a lot of work inside and I made a few bad experiences.

I wished also it would be possible to release on all platforms. But I guess it needs to wait until I get enough money to buy a second hand one.

Yes, the problem is that I don’t have an apple\mac machine. Looks like you need MacOS to compile for MacOS. And the software is not selling so good or let me say the potential on sales for it is not so big, that I can buy a Mac.

thank you very much.

The color picker on the canvas [RMB] picks always the material from the current layer. If you like to like to pick from all layers you need to hold [CTRL]+[Shift] while clicking [RMB] to pick from all layers. but keep in mind, that the preview looks maybe a bit different, depending on the metallicity and roughness value.

Also, the preview looks a bit different then what you aktually draw. So, you need to draw once to see the right blending.

Hi, 

this feature is currently not in, but will come with the next big update. With the last update I made already some preparations.
But you can select a layer completely and copy it, than you will get a stamp which you can rotate and move and draw on a new layer.
So next update will be small update and finish the flow mask. But after this the layer transform will be next.

1. Thank you very much for the bug report. Such bug reports are very important for me; sometimes I get so less bug reports that I get worry :) Really thank you.

2. Yes you are right it’s a bug. I redesigned the FileDialog and the naming and didn’t set the pointer anymore, so it was NULL. I fixed this.

3. Also, already in the older version forget to rename the function and was loading with the old file format from the start but was saving with the new one. So this was also incompatible -.-. But until now nobody reported this but. So thank you. I fixed it.

So I will need to do a few other things before releasing a new update so it will take a while, but with the next update this will be all fixed.

I'm sorry, but I don't want to handle crypto, so this will not be possible.

Steam takes too much money away, so if I would start now to sell it on steam, i would need to raise the price. Because the price is currently really low and after tax and paying the selling platform nearly nothing is left.

I will see, maybe when the software is more developed and I will increase the price anyway, if version 1.0 comes out, than I will also go to steam. But, currently not.

Ah okay, yes multiple UV Sets are not possible.
You will need to separate the objects into 3 models or place it on one bigger texture.
I didn’t thought it will be needed in pixel art so I didn’t implement it.
