(Late reply) Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed it! :D

Late reply but huge thanks! So glad you enjoyed it and I’m glad to see that I’m apparently improving.

From past experience it only takes a day or two if they’re not immediately posted—I assume it’s just whenever Lone Rabbit gets around to it.

Thank you very much! Those synth basses are usually my favorite parts of my own works. Glad you like it!

Many thanks, so glad you enjoyed it!

Thanks so much!

Immaculate vibes here. Love the instrument choice and the intensity/mysticism of the overall theme.

Amazing work here! I’ve said this about a lot of entries but the whole Wii/3DS-esque feel you captured (whether intentionally or not) is great. I like the rhythm and soundfont and the chords are just beautiful.

I like how ‘Searching’ is just super serene, which probably fits the jam’s theme the best. ‘Chasing’ was probably my favorite; the synth (or string instrument, can’t tell) was a pleasant surprise and the way it played alongside the flute was so synergetic. ‘First Flight’ was really sweet, not much else to say about it. Overall, this OST is beautiful!

Very nice! I like the horn and choir sections, and the drums are a nice touch. I would say that, in my opinion, some more variety would work wonders for the song; even if the main loop stays the same, an overarching melody or chord progression that changes a lot could drastically improve the sound. As said before me, a bassline would also help. Overall, great work! (Love that cover image btw!)

This is insanely good, especially the percussion. This feels almost too gripping for a kart game haha. The synths are an incredible part of the OST and have a very airy sound that fits beautifully with the sky theme, plus the e-piano (and other instruments I can’t identify) remind me of simpler times on the Wii; I can’t explain why that relates to the theme, it just does. Needless to say, incredible work to both of you.

Thanks so much! :D

This is just awesome; very peaceful and reminds me of a Wii game.

Awesome work! The mixture of themes and instruments is very creative. I think it’s just the right amount of ‘bright’ for the jam theme in terms of sound and composition, which is more than I can say for my entry haha

The web version’s been added!

Thanks for checking this out—Glad you liked it! The pads were made louder than other simultaneous instruments so that the chords would be easier to detect. I used a compressor in the master audio bus, and I’m not sure if that’s considered side-chaining or not. As for the bass, it doesn’t use chords at all and isn’t supposed to follow or correlate to the chord progression, if that’s what you mean. The chord stuff is something that never really stuck with me in music theory, and I never really try to follow traditional patterns or systems when using chords.

Thank you! :D (I made the music and sound effects for the game)

Thanks so much! I hadn’t seen the rankings yet when I read this, so it was really encouraging to read a new compliment before I saw how my entry had done. And to be fair, I had rushed to complete the OST in about two or three days and I agree with most of the criticism that’d been brought up in the entry comments. So hopefully next time I’ll finally take the development slow and manage to do better with the composition.

Awesome entry! I love the instrumentation, especially, and the melodies are really pleasant to listen to. The tempo change in Minutown’s Destruction was an excellent touch; It fits the time-related theme while also adding the sense of urgency of the town’s doom.

Minutown was great, a nice change in mood that still fit with the first track. I really like the main looping instrument there (I’m guessing it’s some kind of altered piano sound?)

Thank you so much! I really appreciate your compliments and feedback. I apologize for the incredible length of my entry lol. I got a bit excited trying out a genre that was somewhat new to me, and I had so much fun that I forgot to trim stuff down.

Awesome soundtrack! I love the Big Ben theme and its mixture of wonder and daringness. It might be my favorite track, but I was also seriously impressed by the EDM sound of The Malmechanics Of Big Ben. Just overall an incredible entry as always.

Thank you so much! I will say that, though I’m glad the music turned out the way it did, a lot of the stuff you pointed out was kind of unintentional, mainly the 4/4 drums versus the melody. I honestly just don’t pay much attention to the difference between 4/4, 8/8 and so on, when composing. Anyway, I’m so glad you enjoyed my entry and I greatly appreciate the detailed feedback! :D

That makes sense! The bassline was a goal though; I’ve found that to be a recurring element in typical synthwave music.

Good to know. Thanks again! Just out of curiosity, which track would you say struggled the least with variety? I’ve seen ‘Impending Doom Approaches…’ being named a favorite by some of the comments, but I’m curious as to which one was most dynamic, specifically.

Thank you for your feedback! Glad you enjoyed the entry.

Thank you very much! The variety thing is something that’s been pointed out a lot in the comments, and I’m really glad it’s been called to my attention. It seems to be something I could work on in a lot of my music, although this one sort of had an excuse as it was my first major attempt at the synthwave genre.

This is awesome! I love the mood and instrumentation, especially. I can really see the game you envisioned for this OST and its bittersweet storyline. Excellent work!

Nicely done! I love the surreal feeling to these tracks; It sounds great and it was a really creative choice for your entry.

Thank you! I appreciate the feedback.

Thank you very much! :D

Awesome job on the whole thing! The soundtrack sounds extremely fitting for your interpretation and game idea. I really enjoyed the intimate simplicity of the whole thing. My favorite track is probably “Clock Like Bubbles”; It just sounds so laid-back but also sweet, and I love that.

This is just incredible! The sound design, composition and musical ideas are all outstanding. I think “Inside the Falling Clock” is my favorite track here. It has all the impressive quality and mood of the first two, but it introduces an amazing feeling of subtle grimness and mystery. Well done!

Thank you! And don’t worry, your feedback is greatly appreciated!

The repetitiveness of the themes was pointed out to me in another comment. Upon reexamining the songs, I agreed. Making the songs shorter would be a good option, but I personally think I should’ve just put more variety in the themes of each part. I think the reason “Impending Doom Approaches…” seems to be the more popular track in this entry is because I didn’t skimp on variety; I didn’t reuse too many themes and I gave different composition to different parts of the song.

Anyway, I’m glad you still enjoyed my entry despite all this. Thanks again! :D

Thank you for your kind words and detailed feedback! :D

Thank you very much! :D

That’s great to hear! Thanks!

Thank you! :D

Thank you so much! I appreciate the feedback.

Honestly, the main theme(s) were probably my least favorite part of this OST. The first leitmotif was quite rushed; I didn’t have much motivation or ideas for it other than ‘make it sound dark in some way.’

I hadn’t really considered making more variations of the themes, though. That would’ve helped a ton, especially with how loop-based a lot of the songs are.

Excellent work! Like c_gurra said, the mood feels very cohesive, even though the tracks are still diverse. The composition is hauntingly beautiful, and I feel like it would be telling more than half the story if it was used in a video game; Honestly, I could even imagine this in a cinematic work.
