Description
1. Process
>The soundtrack was composed from 21/07 to 26/07 using MPC Beats DAW. All songs were composed with MIDI Input using the Alesis Qmini keyboard. All mixing was accomplished using MPC Beats too.

2. Theme Interpretation
>The lone black figure is on top of an enormous hourglass surrounded by countless floating clocks. It is trapped and the sound of clocks resonate. I believe the theme is boredom. And what more boring than a summer for a lonely student?

3. Soundtrack
>The soundtrack is inspired by music used in Nintendo titles like "New Super Mario Bros" and "WarioWare: Move it!".

>There is focus on two different aspects of summer:
A relaxing part that could be used in single player puzzles. It includes two pieces:
i. "Bored in the Menu": Waltz, menu theme.
ii. "Clocks like Bubbles": Ambient, puzzle solving theme.

>An energetic part meant to be used in multiplayer minigames. It includes four pieces:
i. "Endless Possibilities", I do not know the genre, but it sounds summer-like. It signifies the reunion of a friend group during summer vacation.
ii. "Couch Party Competition", the multiplayer lobby theme.
iii. "Think Together!", slow percussion, meant for a preparation phase of a minigame or puzzle game.
iv. "Race Together!", fast pace meant for a chaotic obstacle course minigame.

Message from the artist:
The theme I chose is the picture. I interprate it as a symbolism of boredom during the summer for an initially lonely student.

At the beginning, the soundtrack focuses on the slow paces and relaxation of summer. But here's the twist; once the student reunites with his friends his boredom vanishes. The soundtrack then becomes more energetic and goofy.

I hope you enjoy it!

How does it fit the theme?
The orchestration fits the artstyle and the melodies fit the artistic interpretation.

Really cool chill stuff along with the percussive and groovy tracks! Well done!

Boredom in the Menu: This track is the embodiment of waiting. It just seems to keep going without feeling like we’ve reached a destination, and even at the end the ticking continues after the final notes, like we still aren’t quite there yet.

Clocks Like Bubbles: This track is the single best interpretation of the picture theme that I have heard from anyone in the jam. You nailed the vibe of that image. Clock bubbles is perfect to describe it!

Endless Possibilities: This is another great waiting theme and to me sounds like the moments waiting just before you know your friends are going to arrive which you are quite excited about!

Couch Party Competition: This track has some action in it! I like the groove you create!

Think Together: This is a nice puzzle preparation track. More waiting vibes!

Race Together: This is a fun mini-game theme and almost has a jungle sound to it. Cool jazzy melody!

Overall: These are all fun short tunes. I stand by what I said about your second track and I think it is so awesome. 5 for theme correlation from me! Great work and thank you for sharing!

These tracks were lovely to listen to! From chill vibes to catchy percussion to head-bopping tunes, you've shown off a great range of compositions! I really like the concept behind your pieces too - I can imagine it being a fun and wholesome game. :)

Thank you for listening! Glad  you liked them!!

I like the different approach to the theme comparing to the other entries. On top of that actually preffering the picture... and then nailing it! This is really good stuff!

Thank you! It's a simple OST, it does not compare to the rest of the entries. But I believe the simplicity fits the picture quite well.

Bored in the Menu: short and sweet piano and percussion theme. Waltz helps connect to the theme. Love it!

Clocks Like Bubbles: Very peaceful and simple. I loved the drums towards the end that inserted a brief moment of energy.

Endless Possibilities: Cute track. Instrumentation reminds me of Bomberman Tournament from the GBA.

Couch Party Competition: bluesy vibes with those flat 5s. Sounds mischievous which really fits a multiplayer lobby to me!

Think Together: Good ol percussion. I can see it in a countdown sort of phase (so basically something like a thinking phase in a memory minigame in Mario Party)

Race Together: Energetic drums! Like this simplistic racing track, also gives me minigame vibes.

Nice work!

Thank you for listening! I tried my best to have a fitting OST.

I've rated 110 of these and this is only the second one that solely drew their inspiration from the picture. You both interpreted the picture wildly differently but both ended up evoking what you were trying to accomplish very well. This is a bit of hypocrisy on my part since I just wrote a big long comment praising an extremely minimalist soundtrack, but I liked the tracks better here that had a strong bassline ("Couch Party" and "Race Together", I think) imparting a fully fleshed-out sound.

Developer

Thank you very much for listening and for your comment! I was surprised that people did not use the picture more, it's really nice!

Awesome job on the whole thing! The soundtrack sounds extremely fitting for your interpretation and game idea. I really enjoyed the intimate simplicity of the whole thing. My favorite track is probably “Clock Like Bubbles”; It just sounds so laid-back but also sweet, and I love that.

Thank you for listening! I appreciate it a lot.

These chill, light-hearted tracks were fun to listen to.  I love the delicate instrumentation in Bored in the Menu. It's very pleasant, perfect for waiting. I think the theme interpretation is pretty creative too. Thanks for making and sharing. I hope you had a good vacation!

Thank you for taking time to listen and comment. I sure did enjoy my vacation, thank you! I wish you the same.

I like how lighthearted and fun all the tracks feel! I do think the menu and lobby tracks could use a little more going on in them, but that's just a preference of mine. Great work!

Developer

I understand, thank you for your feedback! I had in mind that a person does not spend much time on the menu. But certainly, things could be added.

Submitted(+1)

Although you're right, people don't spend much time in menus and lobbies, I think that makes it more important to have a memorable theme or beat because you have less time to do so!

Developer

Ah I see! That's a good way of seeing it, I'll keep it in mind.

Cute and lighthearted , think you nailed a consistent tone across all the tracks, good job.

Race Together is good, I can imagine playing a wacky racing game with a group of friends to this.

Developer

Thank you for listening! And thank you for your time.

This was fun to listen to, I like the goofyness :D maybe the mix could be improved, as it sounds a bit flat to me, but overall the tracks are good!
