What do you think my game is about based on its cover alone?

Hello everyone!

I've just created a new cover for my game, and I would like to know whether it reflects the genres and themes of my game.

Based on the my cover alone, what do you think the game is about? What genres do you think it belongs in?

Thank you!

(This is the game link. Though I would greatly appreciate if you take a guess before!)

this image makes me think of mystery ...

Got it! Thanks for the response.

Any guesses on the type of game, e.g. rpg, action, etc.?

A point'n'click or a novel maybe, am I right?

-obs: I haven't seen the game yet ...

It looks like a horror game with a small child as the protagonist.  No clue what the title could mean.

Got it. Thanks for the feedback!

Button Cupcake, I'd think of something about anime because of a fox/bear heard and sewed ears, button eyes, maybe about a tea-party (like at alice in wonderland? just with this protagonist of your banner than a rabbit), maybe also about something with sewing patterns somehow.

Background could refer to bit action-based scenes because of darkred, bit in black or more dark opacity. Roundy than squared or sharp font, seem to be quote smooth while "butterfly" seems similar to that timetravel-movie / inspired by "butterfly room" as horror movie?

No shadows in the banner, which let me guess that movie being rather in 2d than 3d. Why in graphics: that stuffie's head sounds like it's based on it than the texttitle that refer to butterflies or tea I guess? Maybe it's like five-night-at-freddys where a bear is approx one of the characters too. Maybe it's a bear as bartender or a koala who got a makeover for his fur who serves some tea ...so basically more reference o restaurant and cooking than animals or insects?

uhm, that rose ...could be like a tattoo, maybe referring to specific "tribe" not quite indian just as tattoo that defines enemies or "the good ones", by its mouth I'd think of kawaii-typed graphics in-game.

btw not clicked at the added link or browsing through comments, just by examining the details and my first thoughts even they're just connected within paragraphs and a new line being a completely different version.

Wow, thank you so much for the artistic analysis! Your feedback is extremely insightful!

I weirdly immediately think of a horror visual novel, something with a darker goth style (the tattoo showing roses but also … tentacles?) The wallpaper background also suggests a gothic atmosphere and the dog (?) head is obviously a stuffed animal (coming to life maybe? I would associate it with the horror movie May). Also, now thinking about it - where does the tattoo come from? Maybe the dog is made partially of skin?

The title immediately reminds me of tea parties and “Butterfly Tea” - with all the other aspects of the image - a sense of danger, maybe it’s poisonous?

Hello! Thank you for the insightful feedback! I haven't seen the movie May. What's it about?

It's about a strange and very lonely woman who talks to a creepy doll and who ends up killing people to create/sow her own human-sized doll. It's weirdly lovely but also very funny and quite creepy, so it's a good reference point!

Yes, this is a good reference. I can see the similarities. I'm glad my cover reminds you of this haha.

Definitely gives me horror vibes due to the color and distortion of the background, x's on the eyes and liquid-like font. The roses also remind me of the horror anime The Promised Neverland, which has a similar gentleness mixed with horror to it.

In terms of genre my guess would be either visual novel or top-down RPG.

Got it. Thank you for the feedback! The x's are threads that hold the button eyes in place, but now that you mention, they do add to the creepiness.

I'd say it looks like the cover of a gothic/ horror visual novel or some sort of point-and-click-story? The title could be an allusion to the tea scene in "Alice in Wonderland" mixed with the "butterfly effect" - nothing in the story will stay the same, the players/ viewers can change the course of the story with their respective decisions.
Hope that helps. Now I'm really curious what it's all about! :D

Yes, it does, and thank you for the interest!

Definitely creepy horror, like a "fancier" style of Five nights at Freddy's haha. Gameplay-wise, I dont know why but it makes me think of a 2d style point and click horror game like Fran Bow. Atmosphere-wise, I think of that fairy tale section in Witcher 3 : Blood and Wine, but even more twisted and dark.

Man, I went all over the place with this XD. But, I hope it helped.

Haha, funny that you've mentioned FNAF. It's one of my favourite horror games, and this may or may not have to do with the animatronics.

Thanks for your feedback!
