Seems a bit odd to me that you decided to not be able to change the controls in game to help support using a ps4 controller. Adding this would make it a lot easier for people (like myself) who are used to playing the game with the normal ps4 layout. Seems like a big oversight that we have to use another program entirely just to have the game playable.

What about steam mate ? Have you give a thought about it instead of relying on third party tools ?

Steam technically is a third party software to Itch. I do use it but I just think it's an oversight to not have any kind of control change option in the base game.

use DS4, or run the game via Steam, the problem with PS controllers is they're not Xinput, and Windows does not support any than Xinput, DS4/X360CE converts it to Xinput.

"Windows does not support any than Xinput" is completely inaccurate. Windows supports both DInput(which DS4 controllers are) and XInput.

Plenty of PC games even have native support for DS4 controllers, and some have generic DInput support. See https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/List_of_games_that_support_DualShock_4

yeah some games, but not most

they're planning to add custom controls, but they're a pain (said in the interview) to implement, maybe in later updates.

I saw external program mentioned-- what program would that be? im not super familiar with this sort of thing and I would like to use my PS4 controller as wel

You can add the game to Steam and reconfigure the controls through it. You can also use DS4 but I think Steam is easier to use.
