Mod Idea: Hunting/Mining Overhaul.

It's always bothered me that when one is Hunting for meat the hunter doesn't bring back any Leather, and Vice Versa, as well as the fact when you mine advanced Materials you don't get any basic stone.  Of course this won't be as efficient as searching for the specific material because Harvesting Leather would prioritize things with large skin and maybe not necessarily a large quantity of meat. I am not sure if this is a limitation imposed by the engine or not.  I am going to try and fiddle with some things myself, but i am a total noob when it comes to modding this engine.

Well, it is a nice Idea, but thinking it a bit further, it would make sense that hunting also gives bones.

For the mining: even if there is only one specific location for mining one material, there would always be a very small chance to get a better material than the one you’re looking for. As an example: When mining stone, there will also be a chance to find an iron-ore, jewels, or obsidian (even mithril or adamantium would be possible with like a 0.001‰  drop rate).

that is also true, however with bones I can see them being left behind in favor of the meat and Leather as a person can only carry so much unless they bring it back whole and disassemble it in the mansion or a specific area on the mansion grounds,  which could also work, as for the chance to find more precious minerals I thought of that too but no sure how one would make that work, as progress is made per tick in a certain amount by location, Could also technically put in Mana and Life shards for Mining, as they are pretty much stones that have absorbed magical properties, should probably have them drop specifically from the veins of Iron (Life) and Mitheral  (Mana), that is if we can figure out how to get the rare drop chance to work

Since there is no exact information on either the hunting method nor the size of the gathered bones, it wouldn’t be strange for small pray like rabbits to be taken home before disassembling.

That the hunting knife gives a bonus to hunting but bow don’t also support, that the hunting is based on traps and targets smaller pray.

And yes, I am aware that it might be simply a decision in the game design or a problem with the system.

As for the mana and live shards, I’m not sure, what they are (I might have missed or forgot an explanation). But since I found them after fight or in tressures, I assumed they are some kind of “organic” material forming inside of living creatures at some conditions.

I always assumed they were just useful to Humanoids, like bandits etc. so that's why they carried them, or stockpiled them but I always kinda figured they were like a gem that had absorbed an absurd amount of Mana or life force and the player can use that to resupply their own diminishing supply, sort of like a soul stone from The Elder Scrolls...

The SfCMod has an additional upgrade to hunting that gives leather and with a further upgrade thick leather.  But bones are pretty worthless.  These are the kind of addition that is better to mod in rather than asking for them in the base game, I think.

Thanks for that information, must look for that later, I mean the stones I can deal with since it's something one can get at home anyways.

Could you perhaps link to the mod you were suggesting?  I can't seem to find it

Thank you in advance

The article for it is 6 down from this one, Labelled: Mod SfCRevamp

I believe it's Conquest Tweaks

Well, you would have a better sense of that than I do.

The way I see it, leather and bones come from "monsters" and meat comes from animals. A normal pack of wolves or rats would run away from a combat party, and the rats shouldn't be a threat to even a lone, unarmed, baseline human.

I mean deer are a rather large animal that people get meat from and they also use Buckskin for leather, and the natives at least, used to use the bones for buttons and tools as well, so I can get where you wouldn't always get meat where you get leather but no matter where you get your meat you will get hide and bones.

Yeah, but the hide and bones aren't necessarily going to be the same quality if it's from your bog-standard deer instead of a group of mildly magical hyper-aggressive monster rats.
