Growing up, I played Atari 2600 and pinball. As an adult, I bought a used N64 to entertain. I got bored with the N64 and sold it. I got more into video gaming right before George Floyd's murder by buying indie bundles and seeing what I liked. I learned about itch through Bundle for Racial Justice and Equality. I tried a bunch of those games and more. I discovered that I really like 2D pixel graphics. I learned I like 2D platformers and SHMUPs. They are virtual toys to me. I like to discover indie gems and give them 5 star ratings. I get bogged down in world affairs, so I play video games a few minutes a day to both clear and challenge my mind.

It's my life. Since I was a kid, I knew that I have a knack in video games. More than just playing video games, I created game and level designs for games I've played.... which never see light of day.

Now, I have access to a game engine called OpenBoR, I can create games I love and express myself.

I'll give a simple answer. Because it's fun and I like it xD

Because it is more challenging than watching a movie.  But it depends a lot on the game, why you play a specific game. 

The essence is, we grew up with computer games available, so we play them.   Adults do not   stop wanting to play because they are adults. They just play different games. Or in the case of computer games, many of those are intended for adults, so no need to change the type of games.  

 Card games are popular among the older generations.   And of course games for money, even dumb ones like slot machines.   There is a reason why game shows are a thing. They are the let's play of the   last century. You literally watch people play games, ranging from quiz games to dexterity   based stuff. Or take sports. It is just games with more physical excercise. And of course, chess. All time favorite through the ages.

And just like video games, the reasons why someone plays chess,   soccer,   charade,   poker,   solitair,   etc, vary with game and person.  It is  much easier to have a single player game with video games, though. But even there, people like to share experience and comment ;-)

To be honest, it just kind of happened. I remember falling head over heels for them, back then I had access to a couple of systems mainly GBA, N64 and PS1. As time progressed I just got more and more into them and then I knew that I wanted to create them, and then when I went to collage and then later university to do game development courses, my interest in how they were made skyrocketed. I am even interested in how speed runners break games on a technical level, not only that but I am fascinated about gaming history, the worlds the games take place in (mainly the lore), and the community that springs up around them(I know way too much about the fan creations from the tf2 community for example). So yeah, to say I play games nowadays is an understatement, I would say I know eat, sleep and breath video games.

You know what's more challenging than playing video games? To write one!    ;-)   Given said that, when it comes to playing... I prefer simulation games that closely resemble reality.

i play games because they are interactive and enjoyable

one very simple answer: It's because that I enjoy it and it's also because that I want hard challenges in games to test my skill. thats my answer for this question 

Cause it is fun

My brother and I got into it because of our parents and aunt and uncle.

My aunt and uncle and my parents would call each other on the phone when the got stuck on the legend of zelda. I think there's a picture of my brother and I either playing zelda or mario. Since then it's always been a part of lives. Nowadays, I play because I play some games because it's like watching a movie that you get to live out (at least in rpgs) and the soundtracks are amazing. Other days, it's fun to blow stuff up lol.

It's because they're fun to play and can create lasting memories, from my first memory of having either a sega mega drive or master system (can't remeber which one it was but it had sonic built into it) downloading it years later on the wii and remembering the 1up you could get by jumping through the fake wall in the second level, playing tekken, street fighter 2, mario kart, goldeneye and others with my friends years ago. I fell away from gaming for a while then got a n64 myself a few years later played ocarina of time for the first time which absolutely blew my mind at the time and i've been a gamer ever since. Had a lot of consoles through the years from the ps1, 2 &3, the xbox and 360, and every nintendo one expect the 3ds and the wiiu. Now i'm a massive Zelda fan that's been waiting patiently for tears of the kingdom for 6 YEARS lol.

Video games were a huge part of my childhood. I would play them all the time with my siblings. Sometimes I wouldn't even play with, I would just watch. That has slowly translated into video games being a way for me to bond with people. Some of my closest friends have gotten that close to me through playing games together.

Thinking about it now, I don't play many games these days. When I do, it's usually with friends. I don't often find myself playing a single player game. If I'm not playing with someone in person or on-call, I'm likely playing some sort of MMO.

This is also a big reason I started developing games myself. I wanted to make experiences for people to play and have a good time with each other.

I love game because they give me a sense of relaxation and a way to feel excited and challenged 

I think for me, it's always a sense of finding something new. Also I've made alot of friends through games. Either talking about them or playing games with them. 

My hometown was quite boring to be honest. So games also were a bit of an escape for me as well :)
