Our public community is for seeking help from the community, not for requesting account specific support. You will have to contact support to get those issues resolved. Please ensure that you read the rules and community guidelines when seeking help.
To more broadly address some of your concerns:
You have operated a seller account on our platform, which means you have an obligation to the users that you have sold content to. You can open a delete account request from your account settings page located here https://itch.io/user/settings/delete-account. Although many accounts can be immediately deleted, some accounts require a deletion request to be reviewed by our support team to verify that you are not removing content that people have paid for, and if that is the case we need to arrange refunds for the buyers in question if they are not provided with means to continue to access paid content for a reasonable amount of time.
Also, keep in mind, even with GDPR, if there is a legal basis for us to need to record information about your account then we can not remove it entirely. Processing payments, payouts, and tax information is an example of that. We are legally required to hold information about accounts that we process funds for.
Selling content online is running a business, and you need to take it seriously and take responsibility for the material you distribute, including the relationship you have with those who you have collected money from. When we work with sellers we hold them to a higher standard for this reason.
Hope that helps
Sorry your request wasn’t processed.
It looks like you attempted to submit a notice to us and our team responded with a follow up to try to get you to submit something we could process.
I’ve triggered a new support ticket with instructions on submitting a DMCA notice. Please include all details directly in the email thread. Please make sure you address each list item, as all are required for legal DMCA notice. Please avoid links to third-party document hosting services.
I’m going to end up closing this forum thread since it’s gone off topic, but if you have more questions you can follow up in the support email we sent you.
What? if your stuff does not get stolen, why do you file reports about it?
If you talk about that stuff that happens if you report something, like the button below acomment or project, you never get an answer for those. and if nothing happens, it means that what you think was "reportable", was actually not "reportable" under itch policy. especially the "offensive" option.
try reporting real spam/scam and see the stuff dissappear magically ;-)
What you think is very bad and what the world or what itch thinks is very bad are two different things. Itch is in usa with all the free speechstuff involved. It has to be against itch policy and tos, not your standards. please do not waste time of mods with reporting "disturbing" stuff. Almost all games on page one are horror tagged.
Horror
Games that aim to startle and unnerve the player.
Or in other words: disturbing.
You should also set your setting to not show adult stuff.
And please do not bring examples of disturbing stuff. We are offtopic enough, and it does not matter what you find disturbing. If it ain't against tos, you waste time of admins and your own time.
Well I don't find horror disturbing ( I myself am a horror game developer and my horror game does contain a bit voilence ).
The stuff that annoys me most is the shot adult content.
So far I have reported a lot of stuff such as gross visual novel art and disgusting games and assets.
Although it isn't itch's policy to ban this stuff, it is clearly mentioned in the rules that if someone posts adult content without clearly labelling it as adult content, his game will be removed. So a report would work in that case
Horror is a genre and its attributes do include disturbing. You do not have to find it disturbing. It is objectivly so, not subjectifly.
What you say and what others understand does not macth. horror does not equate violence. You seem to be disturbed by violence and because you think horror has to have violence you are proud that your horror is clean and pure.
I say again , save your time reporting stuff you do not like. There are adult tags that you cannot see or browse. It is hidden markers.
You claim to be developer. That means you work with computer for a living. You should unterstand scientific approach. Do it! Deactiveate your adult content in settings and test if you still see your supposed unlcear labeled adult stuff. But even there, what you think is adult stuff is probably different from stuff other people think is for adults only.
And to repeat it: no one cares if you think something is digusting. you can be offended by content ify ou like, but no one forces you to play content you do not like. And none gave you right to decide what is ok for others.
furthermore, if you are offended by such content, do not corrupt your mind by searching it out. That is like gay hater going to gay forum for gay bashing. do not be like this. People will insult you, belittle you and think you are a troll and bigot, fascist and intoleratn. And some of those accusations you will get might even be true.
I read yourdispute. I can sympatize for the lack of answers you got.
But you might be in error. Like seriously. Consult an honest lawyer beforeyou do real legal action. Because you might be dead wrong about your copyright issues. Not the least because evenif you are "right", it might still fall under fair use doctrine and all your claims would be void, no matter the licensing issues. And that you tried to revoke an unrevokeable licences after the fact tells me, you do not really know about the legal stuff.
The resaon i advise youto consult an expert is, because you are liable for damages, including lawyers fee of the accused, if you neglect considering fair use or worse, file it under bad faith.
As far as I know, when I create something, I own the copyright, unless I distribute them under a CC0 license. I've never gave anybody the right to redistribute my work and I've clarified what they can be used for recently. Taking what people own and selling it as is will never fall under fair use either. This whole ordeal just puts me off from giving away free stuff.
How did you read my dispute when the guy removed the comments?
you might have more than one dispute ;-)
and please do consider informing yourself thoroughly before taking action that might make you liabel if you were in error. The fact that itch did not took action (yet) tells me, that they do not think you are right (yet), so it might not be as abvious as you think.
Yeah, they've already lost the chance of hosting any of my games by ignoring me and siding with a thief that stole money from me. Looks like they don't appreciate the actual creators.
I'm too old and petty to let people that wronged me slide. Let's see if I get petty enough with age to take my business elsewhere. I'm already on the edge of removing all of my free stuff just because one guy abused my generosity.
They were promising a better environment for creators when I joined, I remember years ago, they came to the forum, talking about their new platform and how they will cater to our needs if we join. But I guess greed got the best of them over the years...
If you search `itch.io alternatives` , the main reason creators are unhappy with itch is: being ignored by support. Looks like they've forgot that without real creators, they won't have anything to make money from, other than stolen junk.
