Game is showing downloads but no purchases

Recently a game of ours started showing multiple downloads a day, but there have been no matching purchases.

We have been part of bundles in the past but they were quite some time ago (year or more), so it seems unlikely so many people suddenly discovered it in their library to download. And there has been no recent promotion that we are aware of.

There are some plausible reasons for this but would still like to know if anyone could offer some insight.

Are you able to share which page?

Just posting a bump to see if anyone could enlighten, we do find the pattern rather odd.

Your game is not very big. Maybe someone having trouble with itch app and doing tests with your poor app - since it is paid and not very big. I see no dl with only 1, wich is the most striking oddity. We see 0, 3, 4 and 2, but no 1.

And except for sep 10, you always have 0 on sundays.

I assume the views are disconnected from the downloads entirely, since there we see all numbers from 0-4.

But you posted this 6 weeks ago, and it is still ongoing.

Would an interupted download show up as a download? Maybe a file is corrupted on users end and itch app constantly tries to fix it. Or some file on users end get deleted regularly. Itch app installs in places where not executeables should be installed. Since there is no page view correlation with the downloads, I would bet that it is the itch app doing the downloads.

I think sometimes when games are put in bundles they don’t make profit from the bundle, especially if said bundle is for charity.
