This thread is for the known bugs and their priorities. I’ll edit this post from time to time with the latest. Please do a quick search for your issue before posting.

How to report a bug: please include the version of the game and your OS. If it’s a graphical bug, it would be useful to have your GPU make/model, too. Steps to reproduce would be great if it’s reproducible.

Known Bugs: :(

  • Save/Restore menu doesn’t have user-feedback after loading is done.
  • If your inventory is open you can still interact with other UI elements and maybe break stuff.
  • Not all events pass time.
  • Mouseover glow on interactables doesn’t always fade properly.
  • The flavor text for really high infection levels is misleading. Infection reduces hunger.
  • Can endlessly attempt to charm the man in the outlands with no repercussions.

Not Bugs: :I

  • UI is hidden during dialogs. Not sure if I want to change this or not. It started as visible during events but was distracting so I turned it off. I might have to experiment.
  • Should the outlands encounter with the woman reduce hunger when feeding? Undecided.

Fixed: :D

  • Hitting “load game” after dying seems to lock up. Need to restart the game before hitting the button.
  • Male player’s waist diameter in meters was being miscalculated and was lower by 2-3 meters.
  • Restoring a saved game doesn’t reset the player’s displayed fill until a rest or action.
  • Players hair was invisible on mouseover sometimes.
  • Switching characters on the title screen after loading might not work. [Reported in 20240524 release. Fixed in 20240531.]
  • Using an MRE when VERY full can result in getting a ton of MREs. Cap negative hunger? [Reported in 20240524 release. Fixed in 20240531.]
  • Double clicking on UI elements or during cutscenes can cause game breakages. [Reported in 20240524. Partially fixed/band-aid in 20240601.]
  • (Mild spoiler) “Give In” option at the bunker has a chance to be ignored. [Reported in 20240524. Fixed in 20240622.]
  • Another encounter in the bunker is bugged. [Reported in 20240524. Fixed in 20240622.]
  • Loading a game that was saved at midnight will restore the mountains in the background fullbright, sky dark blue, and without lights on inside the hut. [Reported in 20240524. Might be fixed in 20240622.]

My mouse double clicks regulary and it's breaking the game. I want to press Explore, it click on Explore and Examine. Sometimes it makes the whole room to call out, it returns after entering a dungeon. Once it made my character to move to the middle of the room. But usually it makes the screen fully black with no any visible UI.

Can confirn that double clicking breaks stuff. When clicking to enter the underground base there is a brief moment after the scene appears but before the text appears that clicking bricked the event and went back home before playing out the scene. The home screen was permanantly replaced with the tunnel image.

Thanks for reporting. I’ll try to reproduce it and fix it this week.

Here's a quick video of the bug. I didn't get the underground scene to stick this time, but you can see for a brief moment after starting the scene the UI swaps to the normal options to explore/sleep/use items.

Edit: Added picture showing the underground UI bug. Didn't double click this time, the event just fizzled, displaying the "Examine Self" description instead of continuing the event.

That’s very helpful. Thank you! I think it has something to do with me fading the bottom menu instead of making it disappear immediately. I bet I can make it disable the buttons after one is pressed.

Developer(+1)

I just uploaded 20240601, which disables the other buttons on the HUD as soon as one is pressed and adds keyboard shortcuts to them. I haven’t been able to fix it for the dialogs, but this might help a bit. Let me know if it’s improvement.

Don't get upset, but everything except Inventory makes pannel to move right. Resizing the window puts it on place.

Short cuts are working.

Putting timer on buttons (or it feels like it ) solves the problem with double clicking, but it's kinda crutchy and doesn't make it a long term solution.

Developer(+1)

Oops. :x Fixed and reuploaded.

There isn’t a timer on the buttons. I just disable them as soon as they’re fading and reenable them when they’re unfaded. I don’t particularly like it either, but it might be at the limits of what I can do without a bigger rewrite of the event system. If I spend another 40-80 hours on it, I might be able to fix it, but I feel like I should go back to adding content if it is “solved enough”.

(1 edit)

Nah, still moves to right :(

Developer (1 edit)

Oh. I was only checking right after starting a new game, not after getting back from a dialog. I’ll look into it.

Edited: I think I fixed it? I’m not seeing it any more on my computer.

Yeah, it's ok now.

Infection progress has the opposite effect on hunger than is expected. The random drug encounter describes you as (paraphrased) "extremely hungry as the infection converts all food into fluid". The same is noted in the examine self text.

Instead when you are low on infection at the start of the game you will starve in ~24 hours, but get to 75% infection and you can go 5-6 days without eating. The start of the game is extremely hard because of this, you need to get infected as fast as possible and then hope you find the elastic medicine.

Developer

Thanks for reporting. Infection should prevent hunger. I’ll have to fix the flavor text.

I don't know exactly what caused it, but after playing for a while as Female A (saving & loading many times) I could not swap characters to Female B when starting a new run. It would just force me into Female A until I closed and opened the game again.

Developer (1 edit)

Thanks for reporting. I’ll try and reproduce + fix it.

Update: It was a silly problem on my part. I wasn’t clearing “load” after loading, so new game would try to load saves. It should be fixed in the next release.

Developer

This should be fixed now! Thanks again for reporting it.

This might be just a balance choice, but it's odd that the breastfeeding woman encounter doesn't restore hunger when you are forced to drink. The Mina encounter does restore hunger, so it just seems inconsistent.

Developer

Thanks for reporting. I think it was a balance choice. I had hoped “.. juice flows past your mouth and straight into your body, seemingly bypassing your stomach and directly expanding ..” would maybe explain it away. Now that hunger is more punishing maybe I’ll have to revisit that choice.

I don't think it's possible to fail at convincing the outskirts man to pump himself. It didn't seem to matter how many times in a row that you fail to convince him, I have never been attacked.

Edit - Fail as in critically fail to the point where he attacks you.

Developer

Thanks for the report. I think the odds are low but it might be zero. :x I’ll put it on the list.

Hunger can go into the negative, especially noticeable with contaminated produce at high infection levels. This is important because of MREs - MREs seem to subtract a set amount from hunger and then set your hunger to zero, giving a ration for every <x>% negative the number is.

When you're at like 120% infection, eating 2 or 3 contaminated produce and then eating an MRE can give 20-30 rations. Then you can reduce your infection with drugs and be able to survive a long time off of the newly gained rations. My highest amount obtained this way was getting the "Lick walls in underground base" event, then eating 8 contaminated produce to get 80 rations.

Developer

That’s a GREAT catch! Very nice find. I’ll add it to the bug list and cap the negative hunger. A person is supposed to be able to go negative in hunger if they’re overfull, but the 20-30 ration trick isn’t something I thought of.

Developer

MRE’s are size capped now. Good job again on that find. x) I think you’ll be the record holder for the rest of time.

There is a lighting bug when reloading sometimes. When you load, the mountains in the background will be fullbright, the sky will be dark blue, and there is no lights on inside the hut.

I think it's when the game is saved at midnight.

Developer

Thanks for reporting. I’ll try and reproduce it.

The "Give In" option at the bunker still seems to have a chance of making you look away and go search for items. I'm not using the experimental version at the moment, so I'm not sure if this also happens there.

Developer

Good catch. Thanks for reporting. I’ll add it to the bugs list.

Developer(+1)

Should be fixed now.
