Godot tutorials?

I went through the official Godot tutorial already, but then I started to make my own game and realized I basically don’t know anything from that tutorial haha.

GDScript is fine, no problem with that. It’s just the whole process of making a proper menu, proper game & enemies, etc. The official tutorial doesn’t really teach enough I think.

I’m mostly interested in 2D games, but 2.5D (think YouTube games) would be quite fun as well.

Any good YouTube tutorials to watch or whatever?

Thanks very much!

Brackeys have made a beginner tutorial on godot platformers.  I believe it covers most of the basics. Highly recommend it:

Cool, thanks! I’ve been thinking I might also pay for GDQuests’ stuff in the future, who seems to have some good stuff.

For any good tutorials, I usually go to Udemy. Here's one on Godot 2D:

Its paid. But they usually have discount for first time buyer. The price tag I see is CA$24.99 which is very reasonable for 71.5 hours of tutorials videos. That's what I would buy.

I found this Godot 4 video very useful:

It's almost 12 hours long, but it's structured in bite-sized chunks. Full disclosure I only watched about half of it but I learned a ton so far.

Haha, that’s totally normal, bro! Learning from a tutorial is one thing, but making your own game is a whole different beast. For solid 2D/2.5D Godot tutorials, check out Heartbeat, GDQuest, and Miziziziz on YouTube. They break things down well and actually show real game dev processes. Also, don’t stress too much - just start building, and you’ll figure things out as you go
