Linux build?

Hi there.

I saw Nook play this, looks cute and I like sea themed games. Do you have any plans for a Linux build? Is it technically possible with your engine?

Developer

Hi murks,
Thanks! Unfortunately, it's not planned right now. : (
I think some people have gotten the game partially running on WINE, but there is some sort of bug with it. If I learned how to make the game work with WINE I would.

Thanks for the answer. Are you using a custom engine or is the game based on a common game engine like Unity?

Developer

I'm using a custom engine made with C# and XNA.

I realize this is necromantic as heck, but I'm very interested in a native Linux build myself.  Uncharted Waters: New Horizons is a cherished set of memories and I'd love to play this game natively.  I get that porting Windows games to Linux is a big pain, though.

I suppose if you're interested you could look into MonoGame, which is modeled after XNA and supports a broader range of platforms, including Linux, MacOS, even consoles like PS4 and Switch.

Far as the bug in wine goes,  I think just adding an option to disable the clouds would improve the playability a lot.  It's mostly just an issue with transparency.

If it helps anyone here, these people on Steam have had some success with Proton:
