Sure I hope more people will try and review this game. At first the mechanics are not super intuitive but that added to the story and mystery of being in that situation and have to learn how to drive a submarine. The atmosphere and the exploration and the effort required to understand the map and the displays on the controls really contribute to the immersion of the game.

Thank you for your review, I really appreciate it :)

This game is really cool. I like the retro art style a lot. I think it's a lot of fun to drive the sub around, tho it'd be nice if I could see a little further ahead, maybe that's my fault for being addicted to driving this sub at max speed all the time tho. I wasn't 100% sure what to do in the game, I drove my sub to the coordinates of one of the boxes on the map, but I didn't find anything there and then I died on my way to another square. That's ok tho I still had fun cruising around in my sub. Great job on this!

Hello, thank you for your review! The goal of this game is to navigate to these objectives and investigate them with the controls at the back of the submarine. Unfortunately the first objective is indeed somewhat hard to notice from certain angles (it is the ruins from the screenshots on the game's page), however this will be patched in the next update

While the inspirations of Iron Lung are visible, this game is not defined by them and is its own thing as well! So very well done on this aspect! As I fully understand the fine line one must thread from being an inspiration to a rip-off.

The Sub was very smooth and responsive, I actually liked controlling the sub with the scroll wheel, I can't remember a game in which the scroll wheel was used as the main input command so very well done!

My only and honestly biggest gripe was that the control layout of the sub made it into a  blind driving test instead of a horror underwater exploration game.

My suggestion is actually do a [Press E to control sub] where it enters in a view that shows the lever, steering, compass and co-ordinate meter, whilst STILL keeping the viewport to the outside of the sub as the MAIN FOCUS. Maintain the Scroll wheel for steering wheel but change the lever to another set up (either left click up, right click down, or W up and S down, whatever you decide would be best) That way the main game horror of seeing what is out there is the main aspect for full immersion.

Other than that very well done!!

Tldr; Amazing game, remove the need for the player to look at the controls for them to work, so that they focus on what is outside the sub.

Hey, thank you for the long and thoughtful review! Since I have gotten mixed feedback about how the submarine is operated, I will add a toggle option for being able to use the controls without looking at them, which will probably be on by default.

Again, I really appreciate the detailed review you've given me, so thank you!

Really cool idea! This inspired me to look up what Iron Lung was, because I'd never heard of it. I love the old 90's Doom aesthetic of this game, and I really appreciated that there was an overlay when you hovered over something that told you what to do. The controls were so smooth and responsive! I thought the precision of the submarine was very impressive too. I did wish that the steering wheel and viewport were closer together, because I felt like I needed to fully stop to look out the window when I came close to an obstacle. I think the compass would also benefit from some kind of directional marking. Great work on this!

Developer

Hey, thank you very much for the review, I'm glad you enjoyed the game! In the next update I will make it so that you can operate the sub without having to hover over the steering wheel/lever, so you will be able to focus on what's outside without needing to stop

Really nice, I like it. Out of curiosity, were you inspired by the game Iron Lung?

Fascinating game and potential for something greater is there. Navigation works surprisingly well here considering how finicky the submarine is. Pacing a bit slow and even though there are saves the game still feels quite punishing.

Thank you for your review! I will work on the issues you have experienced in the next update
