Not a big fan of the random encounters, they get annoying really quick, also theres a glitch when you flee, if you click to fast you open the bag and cant close it
Definitely orginal and retro in its design! The idea is cool and we liked the small HP bar during fights.
The reaper, however, was not as impactful as we thought as we could easily ignore it.
Have you considered a feedback for XP / Lv gain? It was a bit difficult to estimate what it meant.
Initially the reaper was meant to be a hard enemy. But changed it to just be a wandering enemy to escape. With more time I would have made it follow the player if detected.
The log should show things like level up and XP gained. If it's missing then that's just an oversight as it was all in place to show. If you mean like a sound or pop up, it was intended. Some things got dropped/missed as deadline approached.
I intend to continue developing and improving. I also made a colorized version. Thinking of merging the two as like a swing to switch between the themes.
Ah, that makes sense! Coolio! The vibe of the game certainly has potential. I think it could be interesting to have monsters wander instead of appearing randomly because at some point they felt a bit like push-overs that were only hindering us from getting to the door.
Yeah the combat is definitely something being worked on. Additional and harder enemies are in the works. I had the timing of this jam and another mixed up and found myself needing to just finish what I could and push it out. Glad you liked and thanks for the feedback.
very cool dungeon crawler! Not gonna lie, I was a bit put off by the regular ass calibri font, but the game's got good visuals and music although I feel like the very upbeat music didnt quite match the slower exploration style. Nice entry!
Yeah I didn't grab fonts. I went with the standard Godot font.
Definitely could work on additional music for it, not the first one who pointed out the disconnect.
Good art and music
I think a "casual mode" would be good, for people who mostly want to explore, as I felt enemies spawned too frequently.
Also the game froze for me on the second room, so I was only able to play the first room.
Yeah I believe something with the spawner is borked, but I've been unable to get a consistent result from it. Sometimes the limited works and others it doesn't. Can you elaborate on what happened when you got stuck? What action did you take or was it just from moving around. I'll look into that tonight though.
Just moving around. I had gotten to the second level from the stairway going down, was starting to move around, then it froze and I was unable to move. Music still played fine though.
Ok let me test that out and see if I can replicate . Thanks for the information
Ok looks like it's only on the secret area via the hidden wall that does that. The actual second floor works fine . I'll get the secret area updated tonight. Congrats I think you're the first person to find it. At least the first to report about the issue.
It's an interesting throwback with the text logging the last action the player did. Plus the actions that you can do.
There appears to be a bug when you try to flee from a fight. After fleeing I can no longer control the character or do anything.
Cool entry nonetheless! ;)
Thanks for checking it out. Let me look into that flee issue.
the music Remonde me so much of Crypt of the necrodancer. Very well done! Which program did u use if I May ask?
Game is very nice, i liked the small Intro, not a Fan of random encounters though, but thats a matter of Taste.
An awesome entry!
I used Godot 4.4 dev 3.
Glad you liked it.
oh I meant for creating the music!
Ah gotcha. SampleTank 4
Interesting game and nice music. I loved the art and the intro with the lighting effect was cool. Wish the enemy encounters didn't happen randomly though. It reminds me of tall grass in Pokemon games.
Thanks for checking it out. I am an old school JRPG fan at heart, and I love random encounters. They do happen a bit more than I intended and the limiter for it does not seem to work entirely.
I think the music is nice but doesn't really match the pace of the game. Maybe change it to a slow pace music?
It is interesting game, but the movement is slow and it mades starting again realy painful. It is porpably good game, but i cant say becouse i have not enought will to start again after i died in second level.
I like roguelike games, this one is well made, music creates unique atmosphere. Although I think that it is not good mechanics that enemies pop out from nowhere I think that they should be already placed on the map and chase player when they see him
Fair. I'm more a fan of random encounters. Hence why it's random both in when and which enemies will attack.
alright, I understand
I liked the auto feature, very convenient. Is there a way to see health? I just chugged potions kind of blindly. Nice submission overall.
When in combat to the left of the player is a progress bar. I admit it's kind of hard to notice at times. Out of combat there isn't but it does regen every few steps.
I liked it! Good game, but very challenging! Keep track of your health drink lots of health potions and you'll make it towards the end. Big fan!
Thanks for playing. I fixed the soft lock issue we discussed. Shouldn't be able to attack so quickly now.
