How did you choose to implement the Theme: Ascension in your game?
You must ascend your way out of a well to save yourself from rising water. The only way out is to go up and up and up!

As an all around package this might be the best game in this jam. The gameplay is enjoyable, the weapons are fun and enjoyable to use and the wall jump mechanic is also really fun.

I did however notice a couple glitches:

-if you hit an enemy with a yoyo, then don't use any other weapon, you can't wall jump
-if you scroll too fast past the intro text, the scroll sound never stops.

What I recommend adding or changing if you ever come back to this:

-The ability to jump lower heights(having to jump so high all the time was a little annoying sometimes)
-Add rubber banding to the water(once you get far enough away it's not even a threat)
-Better design levels around the wall jump, because you can just outright skip many challenges. One solution could be adding a special type of wall you can't wall jump on.



I also really like the randomized pause text, very random edition lmao.

Great game! I'm amazed how quickly you were able to do this start to finish. One thing that could be adjusted in terms of balance is decreasing the speed you can use the yo yo, because right now the gameplay loop is run up as fast as you can and then spam yo yo at an enemy to get your health back. Great job with the level design though,  it's simple with enough platforming challenge!

Thanks! It takes a lot of doing similar projects again and again to basically optimize the code. And I'm fixing stuff right now, so I'll definitely look into balancing a bit. Do you mean put a delay timer on the weapons, sort of like a cool down timer? I can definitely do that. I initially thought of doing that but didn't implement. And thanks! I didn't like my original designs so I tried to look up platforming design tips online and re-designed to what it is now.

I added a 0.5 second cooldown to the weapons so there is a delay in how quickly you can use them.

nice very well done just the controls were a bit weird. if it were me i would stick to LMB to attack and space to jump but other than that very well done

Thanks, I'm not much of a PC gamer, so I'm never sure on keyboard controls. I will definitely improve them in the future. I'm glad you enjoyed it!

I really should. But that would involve me doing work and not being lazy. Haha. I'll probably go in at some point and fix it.

I updated the controls for the game to use the mouse for the weapon, space for jumping, and the arrows/WASD for moving. Feel free to let me know what you think.
