A cool project that tells the story well!

Gameplay: The glitch mechanics were very convincing and made for a fascinating play experience. Objectives were made clear in a manner that was intuitive without appearing intrusive. A greater emphasis in problem solving or action somehow might have made things a little more engaging.

Story: This was an interesting story told in a way that kept the player invested. Very well done!

Presentation: The sprites were very nicely designed, the glitch aesthetics were done very well and often implemented in interesting ways, the music choices paired and set the mood very nicely.

Horror: Although not scary in a jump-out-of-my-skin way, the theme and storytelling painted a very unsettling picture of Luc's life. Scary in the same manner as dementia rather then scary like being ripped apart by the boogeyman.

Theme: The game took place in the ground and the section with tunnels was quite maze-like. Certainly ticks the box.

Conclusion: A very well presented scenario, very well polished for something completed on such a tight schedule! Looking forward to future works!

Gameplay - It's always tricky to implement gameplay which takes control away from the player and have it be interesting or scary rather than frustrating, but I thought it was done fairly well here! I think it's helped by how short the game is and that the game has a kind of autosave that kicks in during some scenes (though how, I'm not sure since it seemed to remember some actions but not others). The glitchy effects themselves were pretty cool, short enough that it wasn't frustrating but often enough and long enough to help make the game very interesting to play. Besides the maze, the ramen, and the "dream", there weren't a lot of gameplay mechanics to interact with, which is a shame. It would have been interesting to have a few more scenes like in the dream, figuring out certain puzzles while dealing with (or even using??) the glitches.

Story - The story was very good! There was enough in the beginning to get you interested and invested, especially when I happened to open up a crate and found a picture of his daughter. What would cause a man to venture down and commit himself to living underground, especially if he was just starting a family? I think the ending also helped tie everything together in a very satisfying way, even if it was a little sad.

Presentation - I loved all of the effects used in the game! Even from the start, the small arrow to select, the way lighting works, the glitches themselves were all very cool.

Creativity - I think a lot of this game was very unique, especially even how it takes the theme and mixes it with other things such as technology.

Horror - Horror can be a hard thing to pin down sometimes, and subjective too. I really liked this work, but I feel like it possibly could have used some more horror elements? Or at least, I think this game had a lot of more subtle horror, but because it's so short it doesn't give you a ton of time to let it sink in all the way. I think if it took a bit longer and built up the glitches more, put the dream later, and gave the main character more lines that were more distressed, that it may have been more effective. I think especially the main character, I would have liked to see him get a bit more scared at things, or at least be more stubborn about decisions. If he were more resistant to going outside, even when we needed to, or if he responded more to the glitches that were happening instead of it feeling like it was just happening to us.

Theme - This game fit the theme pretty well of course!

Overall, good work!

The presentation of this game is off the charts! Great graphics as always, custom UI elements (the title screen/main menu being right on the starting map is a cool move), and seriously glitchy effects throughout the experience make this a standout entry.

Extra props for continuing to find creative ways to mess with the various visual elements of the  engine and "break" MV in artful and creative ways. I definitely don't see this kind of craziness every day.

Also noteworthy is that I never felt lost or unsure of what to do next or where to go; I felt there is a good balance of showing the player exactly where to go and letting the player explore here.

About the only thing I feel I can't fairly give top marks for is "Horror." I wasn't really scared at any point in the game, just curious, maybe a bit confused or surprised. BSOD did cause a tiny bit of anxiety, but I was confident that it was all part of the show.

Overall, an impressive entry! Well done!

Hello!

First, I want to say that the art direction, the setting, the ambience and the sound effects are amazing! They really caught my attention. It also looks like you've implemented a lot of nice ideas. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to keep playing the game. After using the microwave, I get this error:

I tried closing the game, restarting the file, etc, but none of that worked. It's really a shame, since this looks fantastic. I'm not sure if this is a problem with my computer or with the game itself

Odd. I'm reading over the code base and I want to ask. What OS are you playing this game on? This looks like an error related to PIXI

Windows 10

Do you also know your hardware specs? Also would a redownload help at all? Looking deeper, the error was likely caused when the microwave event uses the 'fade out' command but not sure why it messes up on your computer

My laptop is kinda poor, Intel 1.10GHz CPU, 4,0GB Ram, Intel UHG graphics 600. I'll try downloading it again!

If a redownload does not help, low specs would be the only reason I could think of why a Fade Out command would cause an error. The next best thing would be this youtube upload of my game:

I tried downloading it again, and I got past the microwave part, got to the computer error segment (really nice haha!) and then shortly after I got the same error from before. It's definitely my computer then.

I'll watch the video! I want to find out what happens next haha
