I really like the 2.5D platformer going on here. The graphics are kind of "refreshing" if that makes any sense? Gameplay loop is decent, with a few bugs here and there. Overall it's definitely one of my favorites in this jam.

Really nice and well done graphics! Some FEZ vibes there. The music and sounds were nice and chilling. The gameplay was fun, but there were some bugs: some enemies didn't deal damage. Maybe it was me, but ducking was a bit weird, as the cat sometimes moved to the sides even when I didn't want to. It would be really nice to play a more polished version of the game!

thanks! well, actually, I got inspired by the free character controller where there's this "rotating camera" script, originally I planned to move the cam by pressing a button and playing with perspective, to do a "mini" metroidvania. But then I thought "well it's a little bit too much like Fez" haha. Then I had the idea of the "parkour" cat and kept the rotating cam just for fun (it was also way simpler to be honest).

Yeah, I'm gonna fix the bugs and release a better version, with an intro, a clearer tutorial and a speedrun mode :)

Think it's worth mentionning I used PSFX asset for the "PS1" shaders look and LowPolyWater asset for the water at the beggining.

The animation on the cat is so good! Mews and mauws also spot on.

I also like the chill atmosphere the music makes. Atmosphere in general is just very good, I like the ‘no explanation, it’s all a bit mysterious’ vibe.

There where a couple of glitches with the restart system I think. Most of the time it would put me back to retry a section, but sometimes I had to start at the beginning. There where even a couple of spots where I became invulnerable (something to do with holding a key pressed maybe?) – also I never can get the hang of wall-jump mechanics in any game, but that’s mostly on me.

(Would’ve liked it for it to be a little more clear that plants are climbable. But that’s probably because I’m very tired right now. the (rest) of the signposting/sneaky tutorialization is very well done.)

The most enjoyable was when you know a section, and just watching the resulting acrobatics :-)

EDIT: I see you uploaded a Linux build. Apart from not being able to enter full-screen mode, it works great! (Maybe a little bit smoother even than on my Win-box.)

yeah there's a million bugs haha! I was a bit ambitious for a first game jam...

So... for the wall jump, the trick is you dont want to loose the "momentum", meaning you dont want to wait for the cat to slow down before jumping. But that's a bit tricky and I might change that because  I think most of us are expecting the jump to be the same strength no matter the initial speed.

I was about to add some subtle explanations in the tutorial part.

For the spawning and invincibility bugs, I have to look at it, it happens so randomly I have no idea for now. It happened even before the deadline but I didnt have the time to fix it.

So many stuff are unfinished, like the first enemies, there's just floating cubes haha...

I wanted to do an intro too to explain a bit the story.  Anyway.

I wanna see the World Record Speedrun on this is in the future and maybe put the run buttton on the "X" on the Xbox controller or "RB"

haha! actually I wanted to put a timer to have a "speed run option", but I have to fix some bugs first :-p "Rb" is supposed to make tha cat sprint, isn't it working?

i truly did not think to try, I had been using the "Y" button on the Xbox controller and just thought that was the only button.
