Thank you for trying my game! I think with all the feedback about the camera I'm gonna change it a bit with a toggle like you said. I love the animation too lol.
So, I started the game, got out of the room, found an axe and killed all enemies I saw. Then I tried to go to the next location, but couldn't break the door. And while the icons and the UI look really good and professionally made, other parts of the game(the combat, enemy AI, etc.) are very early in development or completely absent, so my biggest suggestion would be to focus on those parts first, and then work on the icons and skill trees. Also, if I was gonna do an RPG with multiclassing, I'd probably have one big tree for all classes instead of multiple separate ones, with every class being represented by one major branch, and sometimes the branches could connect, so that if you had a skill that's thematically similar to multiple classes, it could be obtained from all of their branches.
Other than that I found that having to hold RMB to rotate the camera was strange.
Oh, and I also found a bug:
When you try to equip a skill, and you start dragging it, it will sometimes "detach" from the mouse and drop somewhere in the middle of the screen, and there's no way to start dragging it again or to reset it.
Thank you for trying my demo! There is no next area unfortunately and it is for sure early and my first project so I'm learning a lot. The art is just stuff from the unity store as I am no artist, so I merely use them instead of having nothing in their place. I do need to focus on the core gameplay loop but I personally am more interested in the talent/class part so that's what I'm motivated to work on. I actually am a huge fan of path of exile and FFX's large tree but I wanted to go for a more separate style like borderlands and world of warcraft, it might be more work but it's what I wanted to do. I've heard similar feedback about the camera, and I am looking into changing it but it's pretty much a copy of world of warcrafts camera system. I will try to replicate the bug and fix it, thank you for finding it.
ok on a windows machine didn't find any bugs, not sure if you did the art yourself but if you did it looks good. The feeling I get from the music, dark shadows, and the Dutch angle thumbnail is that your going for a diablo kind of atmosphere which is a game I love so I think you should lean into it. To do this I think finding a way to make the sky more creepy is a good idea and also maybe some fog and more dirtiness.
Thank you for trying my demo! I did not do the art, I'm more focused on learning code, so I just put generic art I could find on the Unity store in to look nice. I take great influence from path of exile (which takes influence from diablo 2) and I'm glad you like it. Fog is actually a fantastic idea and I'll write that into my plans.
Hey, the first thing I noticed is the quality of your 2D art assets - it looks good! This was my first time trying the game, here are my thoughts:
- maybe add an alternative camera control mode where you can mouse look by default with reticle but hold down a key (eg. ctrl) to toggle the cursor for clicking
- good work using light/dark to guide the player subtlely in the starting level
- it would be nice for interactive objects to have prompts (eg. pick up bandage (right click))
Thanks for playing my game! I have heard similar feedback about the camera and I'm gonna try it for next demo day to see what people think. A tooltip is a good idea that I haven't heard, I'll add it to see how it is. Thanks you too :)
Did you change anything? It was hard to tell. I don't seem to remember you being able to hit 0 just to gain levels or I missed it the first time. Can't wait to be able to actually use spells on enemies and stuff.
That is a great question, but it was a really busy two months for me in real life. I did a ton of coding for talent trees and design work outside of the game that did show up for 5 talent trees. I thought about whether or not I wanted to submit to DD 44 since there wasn't much progress but I decided that I would rather submit than not submit in the end. I promise I'll make greater strides next time. Thanks for playing and checking up on my game!
Hey OrthelloDev, I played your game couple of days ago. This was my first time playing, my previous experience with it was just watching the prettysober's stream for DD43.
I think all your UI looks really nice. I also thought your skybox is pretty.
I got out of the shed, found an axe, and hacked some monsters. I was able to level up, choose classes, and equip some abilities, but using them just played a sound, so my guess is they are not implemented. I think you also only have animaton for walking forward. I think I am going to be able to give better feedback the more the game grows. I know you want to do multiclassing, but maybe you should concentrate on one class for the time being. I'm just thinking you might want to be concentrating on too many things at the same time, but I am sure you got a plan.
Thank you for trying it this time! Yeah I think it is a lesson in scope for me, but I'm stubborn and committed to making it work. I really do need to focus on the core gameplay loop / combat but recently I've just been motivated on designing and implementing class features and talent trees. I think by next DD I should have some spells that can be used for a few classes. And no there is no plan :)
Ran around in the tutorial zone interacting with the pretty menus. Not sure if there were any other areas that I missed. UI graphics are really nice, though the world itself is a little too dark. Music and effects are both good. I like the items scattered around the environment.
Multiclassing is cool, looking forward to seeing where that goes. The class spells menu was a little confusing. I chose Paladin as my first class, but the spells in that window were still locked.
Largest complaint is just about turning. Moving from the mouse to the arrow keys just to turn was cumbersome, as was using right click to rotate the camera. Not sure how I would fix this, maybe an option to lock/unlock the mouse instead of having to hold right click?
Thank you for trying my demo! No new areas as of yet, thank you for your kind words. I intended for it to be dark in the first zone and get lighter as the game progresses into day, and I also want to add more items but perhaps not in the first zone. The multiclassing is the flagship and my passion so I'm focusing on that and am excited to flesh it out more. There is actually one class that is bugged with the spellbook and that is paladin, I cannot for the life of me fix it but maybe if you try it again you can see how it works with different classes. The camera is a work in progress and I received similar feedback before so I am gonna overhaul it again to see if it is better. What is a good key to unlock the camera?

Hello OrthelloDev, so sorry it took me so long to try your game out.
It looks like quite an ambitious project!! There's a lot to be done I see but so far It's looking good! Little steps everyday! Keep at it bro!
NP, thank you for trying it! Yeah it is bigger than I thought but oh well. Baby steps indeed but I think we'll make it :)
Very solid foundation for a game, the UI art in particular is extremely good
Holding RMB to rotate the camera is fine, a toggle would perhaps work better though with the whole interacting and movement modes you've got going on
Also like the dude's chest inventory opening and closing

Neat game, was fun just to run around and wack the monsters. A solid base for a game.
Thanks for trying it. More coming soon TM
