Pretty cool, actually. I also found the game to be easy, so it was a rather relaxing experience. The controls could use some improvement, though:
Sometimes it doesn't select all the units. You're dragging the rectangle around them, but not all of them get selected.
Right click to build things is uncommon and I keep pressing left click instead.
Would appreciate if it had some common RTS features, such as double clicking to select all units of the same type on the screen, shift+click to chain commands, etc.
I also found some bugs:
Sometimes ogre lairs appear on the territory that you control, and even though it was safe just a second ago, now your units and buildings are being destroyed.
Once you have a certain amount of buildings, each time you build a new one, the game lags, and the more buildings you have, the longer the lag lasts. By the end of the game it lagged for 5-6 seconds.
Also it is funny how when you select lots of units at the same time, the sound they make becomes ear-rapingly loud.
Thanks for playing and thanks for the bug reports, I have noticed and fixed most the demo bugs already. Thanks for the suggestions, I do want to add more RTS features like select all and chaining commands.
I built up my base and almost stopped the ogre menace before my game freaked out and broke. I actually had fun without expecting to. The pressure the ogres give is very appropriate and is able to be dealt with by destroying their swamps. I was also surprised to see a boss and I almost gathered enough archers to kill him. I was able to build a base and there are a nice assortment of buildings to build up. The stone wood farms are a really nice touch and remind me of some good rts games. Nothing negative to say other than my game breaking. What are you planning on adding next?
Thanks for playing. I'd be interested in knowing what was broke. I've fixed bugs since this demo and I rushed to get it ready. I've added trolls as dangerous fauna and added flowers and new trees and better floor tiles and a minimap. Would like to add base building AI to the enemies and more of everything.
Not sure what broke, I just could no longer make actions and the ogres kept moving but didn't attack. New stuff looks good and base building ogres sounds awesome!
Killed the goblin king in around 15-20 minutes. As promised in the thread, I'm leaving some feedback.
This is a fun a little game. It reminds me of settlers where you can occupy structures with your peasants and they work there. I managed to win by first clearing all nests and then assaulting the king. For fun I threw 12 non-archers at the boss to see how they handled it. Nobody even managed to put a finger on him, the dude is an arrow machine gun.
I struggled with the controls a bit. Sometimes menu options didn't select and building itself was a bit counterintuive, clicking a building and then trying to place it down canceled construction. Eventually I realized that to build I had to press right click instead of left click. This is a bit confusing, most RTS use left click once you have the building selected.
Since I didn't have any houses I was being overwhelmed by goblins. Thankfully I kitted them with a human while I tried all sort of things to get a house build up. Once I got three houses in I managed to keep the goblins at bay and expand the settlement. It was a bit hectic though.
Also I liked the placeholder sound the humans made.
It is very early, but it looks like it could end as an interesting game. I hope you can keep working on this and be able to develope it further.
Thanks for playing. The left clicking is causing everyone issues, good to know though. The UI not responding is some of the inner elements don't have mouse handlers on them yet and they block the clicks.
That was fun. I was able to train 10 archers and kill the big king demon in 3 rotations. One thing that was a little annoying was how the camera rubberbands back to your selected units. It made it difficult to select targets for my archers that were out of range. I also kept left-clicking to place buildings. I also never built any walls as my archer towers had no problem killing the orcs. I also didn't know what gold was for so I didn't build the gambling thing. Overall fun game and a nice game loop.
Thanks for playing. The camera was rubber banding back because you had enabled the follow button when a unit is selected. Perhaps it should auto stop following when you move the camera. Gold does nothing yet.
Oh, that's right I completely forgot about that. Then perhaps there should be a slight delay when rubberbanding after just moving the camera. It's really only in that half-second where I move the camera and attempt to select a target that the instant rubberband moves the camera and I end up picking the wrong target.
very nice simple game reminded me a little of an old flash game I played as a kid where you controlled stick figures. played for like 20 minuets and I think the goblins need some kind of unit that can counter the archer towers and encourage the player to train solders like maby a shield goblin.
Surprisingly competent despite the crude look. I finished it and It was fun, I wonder how far you're going to take this.
Bugs I've found: -The audio options reset when starting the level -The unit selection noise was a lot louder when selecting multiple units -Archers can gather wood and stone by attacking them (fun bug tbh)
It felt weird to me to select guys with left click and give them instructions with right click. That being said you clearly made the game way harder since last time I played it. I'll have to give it another go soon.
Thanks for playing. Not sure how else to do it without left select and right action, I had left select and right cancel on previous demo but it was too restrictive. Eventually I think there will be a context menu when there are multiple options for an action like move or attack.
If you find it too hard, gather resources straight away as there is enough on the map to build 1 of everything. Build an archer tower to protect you in the first waves of goblins and give you a safe zone in the corner.
Interesting game. I did notice that orcs will run across the map to kill one dude when I have five attacking one of their bases. I wish there was a way to automate each new character in screen. RTS games need that feature since so many guys at once cannot be manually controlled. Maybe keyboard shortcuts to get them to attack a certain enemy or resource.

Thanks for the tip! I streamed your game by the way, and you can see me playing it in this recording:

Thanks for playing. The goblins can choose their own targets and will keep you on your toes.
