i liked the game, it's very juicy and consistent with its monochromatic graphics, but i felt it's quite hard to get into. the movement was difficult to adjust to. the hover from shooting down helps, but the reload is very slow at the beginning and it leaves you defenseless against the enemies, which have the unfortunate tendency to bump you from offscreen at sonic speeds. i think it would help by a lot if the player started with some cash money in the pocket.
i probably wouldn't have been able to get very far without cheesing near the shop for reload with invincibility and shooting some off-screen point that gave me insane combo until i could get the passive damage ring upgrade, which helped mitigate the surprises. even then, the game gave me an F after i almost completely emptied the two shops that i've seen (thanks for the cute little cameo, by the way!)
I really love the tech with the shooting and jumping. I found pomao's shack and cerise's emporium along with the shop all of them are very cute, loved all the items, even the little test item is fitting. In most of my runs I only survived a minute or two, and on two occasions I lived for 2:5, I wasn't sure if that is two minutes and 5 seconds or 50 seconds. I got an F in all of them except for the run where I absolutely became death and literally couldn't find a consistent way to damage myself to get a ranking. I bought the 100k summon and won I think taking the leave. Oh yeah and the level design is awesome and really well thought out for this movement, the enemies and your abilities.
Extremely overwhelming at first, but once you get accustomed to the game its actually quite fun. I think some more accessibility would help new players, but ultimately the investment is worth it since its not a terribly complex game, just takes some time to adjust. Would recommend
I found the game really hard. I like the visuals. It's hard to go wrong with a cute cube.
I think the bigger enemies are quite overwhelming because they often stayed alive after I ran out of ammo. The fact I need ammo for platforming also meant escaping was hard, and I often just died.
Combocube seems like a very solid base for what could be a very fun game, whether or not it continues down a arena wave based path, or ends up being something more level based. I like what it is so far.
I enjoyed playing with this. Smooth and nice feelz. Not sure if 1-bit scheme is very readable at places, but I’m assuming things will change as you continue your progress.
Thick, solid, tight game. Will be cool seeing more going forward. Plays really well and is well animated One thing about the presentation though: I think it would be cool if the game featured colors :3
Really soulful game with the intro room area and all the fake /agdg/ posts. I wished there was a tutorial that was optional, since I didn't know what the space key does until after I randomly hit it by accident. The music is really great. The only things I have to say for criticism is that the character feels a bit slippery (feels like all the platforms are like ice, so it's easy to walk off by accident.) The game needs sound effects too. Other than that, it's an extremely great and fun game.
