I'm astonished I haven't seen this idea before. With hand made levels and some more complex mechanical structure, this could be a very fun premise for a puzzle game. Brilliantly illustrates the way people would think while doing this. Good shit.

fun puzzle and cool game. if I was an elementary school teacher teaching kids about gerrymandering I would make them play this game. Then I would leave the room and when I come back they would all be playing bloxxorz and bloons TD on coolmathgames.com, but they would be missing out.

I didnt have any trouble drawing the polygons after I figured out they only draw after you place the 3rd point and you have to press space to lock them in. I could see this being a fun minigame in a city builder or 4x type game.

I played a few rounds and won, but I wish it told me I won haha. I like the gameplay and concept, making the boxes the right color is satisfying and of course there's a puzzle-y aspect that's fun. It is hard at first to figure out how to place the boxes but once you figure it out the challenge is making some boxes fit, but mostly I made squares to ease the game. The shape making desperately needs markers to show where your placing the polygon and walls or boxes would be a cool addition to amp up the difficulty. Overall a cool project and I think it's worth developing a bit more.

Interesting concept for a puzzle, but the current controls, while accurate for actual gerrymandering, make the game awkward to play, but also too easy. If you want to keep the polygon creating concept, then the points of the polygons should be draggable, otherwise a misclick ruins it

With the freeform polygon creation, I think this game can never be challenging. Maybe the way to go is to have the player place pre-made polygons on the map to create regions, that way it's kind of like a tangram puzzle. Or limit polygon creation to only straight and 45 degree diagonal lines. Both ways would need some verification of solvability though, full random won't do it

fun idea, didn't realize space bar locks in the district at first

Pretty fun game, though clicking to create shapes felt off. Maybe clicking on the dots to create the shape instead? Though that wouldn't allow for some silly shapes. Otherwise loved it- I wanna see this grown into a real game.

Only bug I spotted was the below. It added the yellow group to the blue score.

Played for a bit. Video:

Had some fun, it is a bit too easy. You know, I never quite understood gerrymandering and playing this opened my eyes at how powerful it can be, so thanks for the edutainment.

I'm glad you learned something about it! Thanks for playing, and thanks for the video!

I like the idea, cool little game. But the controls and UI info are really rough and I had hard time drawing those lines lol.

Developer

The controls are a sticking point, but thank you for playing!

It's a strangely unique game (At least to me) but I managed to make some groups win.

Developer

Excellent! Thank you for playing!
