The concept is really great and overall I also really liked the implementation! Besides the enemies getting stuck and no boss to fight for, I wish you would make the text at the beginning skipable, as the player has to sit through it after every game over, which can get tedious.

Nice, next  version will try to make the intro scene skipable. Enemy AI is something that I'm trying to solve, it's driving me nuts!

Thank you for playing and for your feedback!

I like it. Nice game mechanic, I already get many idea how that can be expanded. I thought at first when we got hit, the sword will change color like HP usually change color every time you get damage, after the color turn red then it will drop, so you have maybe 1 to 3 hit before the weapon drop.

A few bug that enemy will not spawn after you restart or enemy can get stuck and don't move. And I don't know if this intended, when the sword drop and enemy touch the sword, the enemy get damage. If that intended, that can be expanded too.

Thank you for your in depth feedback! I really appreciate that. Some points I am still trying to solve (enemy behavior is driving me nuts) and will add your considerations on my next steps (intend to keep evolving this game).

Great game! I really like the mechanic of the weapon doubling as your player's life. It makes for interesting gameplay where the player cycles between being powerful and able to take out enemies,  to being defenseless scrounging for their life back while surrounded by enemies. Nice job!

Thanks! Still need to fix AI movement bugs, and finish the boss (the idea was to at the of the 5th wave, you enconter a boss and after defeating him you progress to next room).

I liked the twist on the "Sonic rings" concept, where your possessions are basically your health. I think the experience would be a bit more fun if you automatically picked up your sword when running over it rather than using a button, the attack range for the sword is very short, and the enemies occasionally got stuck on the floor and stopped moving. But overall I liked it! I don't know if there's an end (I played around 7 rounds of enemies) but I eventually gave up because I didn't know how many waves there would be.

First, thank you for your detailed review! For my first "real" jam ever, it's nice to see that my concerns were also noticed by another player/developer. Yeah, by the end of the week I noticed that the enemies were getting stuck when colliding with each other, but could not find out a way to fix this (maybe the static navmesh is a problem, a dynamic navmesh would solve it? I really don't know).

My ideia was that at each five waves, you would find a boss, but my lack of game development experience made me uncapable of finishing even the first boss (but currently still working on it).

I will also experiment with the idea of automatically picking-up the weapon when running over and will adjust the attack range and animation (never did animation in my life, and that one for the attack is terrible).

It's pretty good for a first game jam! Keep making games, even small ones, and your skills will improve quickly 🙂
