Excellent game, super good art too. You got the level design right as well. Its only problem is that it's too short. I may be a bit biased because I love scrolling shooters. Space Invaders, Galaga, Xevious, Gradius, and the parody games Chicken Invaders, Parodius, etc. On my first run my score was 1795300. It would be very cool if you had (or have you?) inserted some secrets/easter eggs, like secret things that can blow up.

Why is firefox nightly required? Did you use a particular feature that is cutting edge or is the set of tools requiring it?

1CC on the first run? Nice, I knew it was on the easy side for people used to these types of games. I suppose thinking it's too short is a good problem to have because you enjoyed playing! I tried to make one short level that is pretty well designed rather than longer or multiple levels that aren't. People tend to play jam games for 5 minutes or less.

This game uses bleeding edge WebAssembly features, particularly GC and tail calls, that are not generally available in stable releases of all browsers yet. By the end of the year they will be everywhere.

It is a great game! Wasn't able to complete without lots of full deaths though, it is nice that you can just continue playing even after dying three times :)

Had to install Chrome dev, but it was totally worth it, loved the aesthetics and old arcade machine vibe so much!

Developer(+1)

I'm glad it captured the vibe. Christine did a great job on the art!

That was very difficult! I had to continue at least twice.

Least favorite enemy: the walls.

Two continues isn't bad! I'm a pretty mediocre shmup player so I figured if I can scrape by on one credit then it's on the easy side for shmups, generally speaking, but a bit harder than average compared to other types of games. Thanks for playing!

Hello, I haven't played this game yet, but I was wondering, is there a repository with the source code available? I want to see how games are made with guile. I use guile to configure guix.

Messy code within. :) And some hacks to work around bugs and missing features in Hoot.

The web integration is top notch! Worked like a charm on firefox nightly

Glad to hear that it works in Firefox! I hadn't tested Nightly in a bit and didn't have time before the jam ended.

Loved it! Impressed with how complete it feels. The level design was great, loved the sections that speed up or slow down, the path variety keeps you on your toes. Lots of enemy variety too. The boss fight was pretty wild, I didn’t really get the feeling my shots were harming it though!

Gotta keep hacking on it :)

Thanks for playing! I definitely wish I could have added more scripted explosions and stuff to the boss fight to make it feel better.
