Graphics and sound are very retro, gameplay is fun and while not really hard still feels challenging. Very cool

The graphic style is really cool and in keeping with the theme. The gameplay loop is interesting. Great job!

Really fun game,  only critique i can think of is very very minor: would be nice to have an option for the dialogue box to disappear after a bit sooner, so as to see if the security could see me. Also really enjoyed the visuals, good job :]

After a few tries the game managed to run. Fun little stealth game, love the artstyle!

Developer

Thank you :) Happy to hear that you managed to get the game running fine.

Badass visuals, cool idea and great gameplay loop, once you figure out all the things you need to do

Thank you very much :) This was my first attempt at making a game and doing pixel art. Happy that people seem to be liking it.

The difficulty level was just the right amount to make a player have to try, but to not want to quit. I liked the bit with having to type in the numbers; even though I failed it numerous times. I also really like the minimalist vibe.

Is it playable in the browser? Hitting play or back on any menu items just black screens?

Developer

It should be. I tested it on Firefox, Chrome and Edge and it all worked fine. If it isn't working for you, you can grab the Windows executable instead :)

I was able to get through the initial "E to begin" screen by pressing it a second time, but going down the stairs it seems like the fade in/out doesn't trigger right. I'm able to walk back onto the stairs and get a flash of the next floor before it swipes over to the first one.

Seems these are all related and to do with the scene transitions, this is Chrome on macOS all extensions disabled, then Chrome Windows the same, Edge, and the exe.

Strange that it's only a handful of people! Holding off on rating as this actually seems like one of the better games from the little I've been able to do so far! LOVE the style you've got here.

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Thanks for the positive feedback :) I am running Windows myself and don't have access to a macOS machine so I can't debug on that platform. I will upload a version without the transitions later so you can see if it fixes the issues you are having.

Edit: Just added another .exe without the transition animation.

Thanks! Not too worried about the Mac, more reflective of the cross-platform effect. Will give the new exe a shot in the morning, great way to start the day - void juice and employee payback ☕

Developer

Wonderful. Let me know what you think and more importantly if the game works (y)

Transitions did the trick! Was able to play it all seamlessly :) Loved it! Have always enjoyed this sort of aesthetic.

Can totally imagine a full game of this, after getting a taste for the corporate comeuppance and taking on the world across a bunch of increasingly complex levels!

Developer(+1)

I am happy to hear it finally worked and you enjoyed my small game :) No idea why the transitions were causing issues, but hey that's programming for you. Thank you for your kind words :)

Took me while to figure out how the door thing worked but really fun game! Fits the theme of the jam extremely well and art is great!

I relate deeply to the protagonist. 10/10

Developer

Don't we all? Thank you very much :)

Enjoyed it! A little frustrating, but I enjoyed the art and sound and the limited color palette. I wish the items I needed to interact with were somehow differentiated so i could tell a little better, but overall great!

Developer

Thank you :) I wasn't sure how to differentiate the interactable objects from the rest due to the limited color palette and in the end just trusted the players to figure it out based on the objectives. A good suggestion though that I will keep in mind for future projects!

The art style is really cool. Fun, tight, funny little game.

I had fun, like the art but i wish there was a music in there with me. I arrived at some point where i didn't know what to do, gave myself to a camera.

Developer(+1)

I wanted to add some music, but didn't have time to compose something myself :/ I didn't want to get some stock music because I wanted to make everything myself. It would have definitely added to the atmosphere.
