I find the art and UI of the game quite successful. I don't know how much of it was made by you and how much of it was AI generated but it's not very important for me. I don't mind the use of AI image generation in games. If you are a solo developer and you don't have art skills or have a limited time to finish the game, you can use AI. I use it in my games too. Btw i don't think AI generated art is sticking out very much in this game, you managed to blend them pretty well.

As for gameplay, the D&D-like combat system is well designed in my opinion but it felt too monotonous for me. The lack sound and music also taking away from the atmosphere of the game. There's definitely some good, well designed stuff there like character creation, inventory etc. when you look at the parts of the game seperately but as a whole the game needs some more work in terms of gameplay to make it more fun and engaging.

These are my general thoughts on your game. I hope you achieve your goals in game development. Good luck and keep it up!

PS: I ran into a bug where i couln't drag the dices anymore in one of my playthroughs. I think someone else also mentioned this bug on the comments section. You might want to check it out

I was having a real blast with this until I got the bug where the AI decided to stop playing. Recommend training speed each day so you can get earlier picks of the dice.

This was definitely an interesting one. I wish there wasn't any AI art, because it was nice to explore the mechanics of the battle and learn on the go. Very good take on the theme as well.

The art is amazing, game could definitely use a tutorial tho.

Best art style that i saw on this jam

Developer

Thank you, and again, to be transparent, my starting point for art are generated AI graphics, which speeds up the process a lot on that side

This is a very cool idea! It took me a bit to figure out how to play, but once I figured it out I enjoyed myself. My run unfortunately ended with the boss locking up, but it is a jam game after all. Nice work :)

Developer

Thank you so much! Yeah this lock up random bug will definitely be fixed in next version, it happened to many people sadly.. and a tutorial and a better progression system is also on the way..

The visuals are remarkable. An in game tutorial would have helped a lot though because I still can't totally understand the game play. Great work though.

Developer

Thank you, althought to be transparent it’s mostly AI generated graphics which I rework afterwards for consistency and corrections. There was indeed supposed to be a tutorial at some point, but I clearly overscoped a bit and couldnt really finish… Thanks for trying it!

This has incredible detail, no sound? and no in game explanation it was generally straight forward.... and yet felt like it was missing a lot even though it was so incredible in detail and UI/menu names, inventory and such. It has a great core and for that 3.8/5

Developer

Thanks a lot! The systems are indeed (somewhat) all in place, but they basically took me almost 3.5 weeks. I basically didn’t even try the overall game before the very last 2 days of the jam, so I had to rush glueing everything which is why it’s pretty rough in term of balancing, progression and so on… But I’m still working on it!

I love art and the game play. I didn't have any major problems. This is a really good game.

Developer

Thank you! Yeah I have no idea why the bugs may appear and they are pretty random, so I’m glad you manage had a correct experience!

I really like the Visuals of the game. The BG & Character portraits are top-notch. The world map and & UI in general looks nice too. I had troubles understanding how the game works because there isn't much of a tutorial. I also had an issue where the Boss AI was stuck on their turn and the game ceased to progress. Overall, this is a very promising entry to the Jam!

Developer

Thank you for testing it! Yeah, in addition to the poor balance and the absence of music and sfx, it seems there are still a several major bugs lurking around. I really hoped we’d squashed all the game-breaking ones (like the AI getting stuck)… but it seem like we didn’t, sorry about that…

No problem. bugs are too be expected in a game jam. Especially when the project is complex and ambitious.
