I think this is a very funny idea! xD
I wish you would make it into a full game where you fight all kinds of food in pans/pots etc. Obviously, it's not so polished and mostly doesn't work very well but that's alright, great attempt <3

Well done!

The first cutscene is super fun and the premise is very interesting, Can use some polish but I enjoyed playing it.

Had fun with it but  I would recommend dialing down the damage on the second boss and checkpoints! I know you give instructions on how to fight each boss but the joy for players is discovering that themselves but it loses a bit of fun if the boss can murder you in two hits!

Loved the premise though! I love missions in games where you have to carted to the location like in the Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter by helicopter or in the LAAT in Star Wars Republic Commando! Except this was really unique being delivered in a food packet haha!

Thank you, yes the player was meant to have 4 chances, but stuff went wrong lol, but thank you I'm glad you enjoyed

I found this game funny, I liked the GMan thumb dude, very mysterious and his voice was cool. Running to grab a toothpick and then turning around to find this massive meatball with a munted face about to roll over me genuinely made me jump a little bit hahaha.

I did encounter a few bugs - I was able to fall out of the packet at the start and ended up just falling through the world haha. I also had a toothpick either miss or fall out of the TBone and land on the ground, and it took me a while to realise it wasn't one of the ones I can pick up.

Overall though the best part for me is the premise, even if the gameplay is a bit janky. Good work.

Thanks so much, I'm glad you enjoyed it and I'm glad you thought it was funny, because that was what I was aiming for, I wish I did have enough time to fix all the yankiness

Huge congrats on finishing your first game!

It's very janky, and definitely rough around the edges, but you got a lot of core things down for a boss rush:
- different attack patterns
- boss phases
- demeanor, the bosses are huge and you can really tell that they're bosses

For me though, the game just wasn't that much fun. Picking up toothpics and throwing them doesn't have depth enough to be interesting for me, and I didn't get further than the first boss. To me, it just wasn't interesting enough. Some highly recommended reading:

The only way to get better at this stuff is a combination of research, reflection and just doing it a bunch of times. So keep at it! You are off to a really good start, you just gotta keep going!

Thank you for the info lol, this is not entirely my first game. I wanted to add more weapons but the time was a bit limited, I only had time to fix most game breaking bugs nearing the end, lol if you couldn't kill the first boss I'm actually happy because I think that guy has a mind of it's own, sometimes he moves at the right speed and sometimes he just floats around, I struggled to find the problem, but I'm glad you got the right playthrough.

To be completely honest, I don't think more weapons would have solved it. It's a fundamental design issue, and you'd have to dig into the design of the second to second gameplay. It's about making the player do things that are interesting to them. A bit of a more full explaination: link to not clog with massive video embed

What would you suggest to make the player character better?

Submitted

So very roughly I'd say there are two parts to making a game; the idea and the polish. Let me try a cooking analogy: the idea is like your ingredients and very rough instructions like "heat it" or "kneed it". Polish is figuring out the right temperature, the right time in the over, the optimal size of the portions. But fundamentally, those ingredients are the core. Everything else is just making the best that you can with those ingredients.

What I can help you with is the polish part, not the idea part. I think that the game lacks a (from a player perspective) compelling way of interaction. Like what is the fantasy of this game? What am I doing? That core interaction is the core of the game. It's often connected to a test of skill. Celeste is at it's core a game about timing button presses, and a bit problem solving. Sekiro is a game about remebering patterns and timing button presses. Factorio is about understanding systems connecting together, and handle the changes that come with upscaling.

Meat arena is about pressing W while looking towards an object, then pressing a button to pick it up, looking at the boss and then pressing a button to throw the object. That's the fundamental gameplay. That's the ingredients that Meat arena brings.

So I don't really have a suggestion, I think my suggestions would be a new idea, or new ingredients if you will.

Takeaway: think about what the player is actually doing. The button presses. What makes those button presses interesting?

Thank you, I think I've learned a lot from you, I'll keep this all in mind

I couldn't grab the toothpick after it was thrown, am i missing something ?

Developer(+1)

My time was a bit limited to fix all bugs, but after you pick up a toothpick a new one will spawn randomly in the arena after 5 seconds

Ho, thats good, ill be on the lookout and try that again soon ! 😁

The second boss feels a bit hard to dodge, the initial "cutscene" is cool, showing that your on a kitchen, good job!
