How does your game fit the theme?
As you dive deeper through hell, you also must dive into the story of your past and why ended up in hell in the first place.

Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
Yes. Only things we didn't make are a few ready-made sound effects and fonts.

The art style is so cool! Great job!

This threw me back to the PSX era, with the pixel art character on the 3d world (matched very very here). the  music fits great. the is a great addition and gives a lot for the player to look/search over what a static one  would allow. I got stuck on the clock puzzle for a bit, then had to look at the hints... and I gotta say that I'm impressed with the solution, using the local computer time of the player, great mechanic implementation. I would love to see a more in depth (no pun) game made on this engine you got here, cause it can be a whole franchise of neat narrative/puzzle focused games.

Developer(+1)

haha the 3d + pixel art thing was inspired by persona! (2 of the team melon members are avid fans of the game (๑•́ -•̀))

and thank you so much!! that's amazing that you got the other puzzles (especially room 1's) :000 WOOO

Submitted(+2)

great work and good graphics! very fun to play!

Developer(+1)

thank you so muchh!! yours too :D

Submitted(+2)

Very nice art style, I love it :D The look is super polished. It's also the first game of this style that combines a sort of visual NPC novel style with investigation and 3D enviro. Some of the puzzles are quite hard, maybe some UI pop ups or hints after a given amount of time would've been helpful :D Impressive for just 1 week!

Developer(+2)

TYSMMM! that's a good idea yeah,, unfortunately we did run out of time as we could only 3 of the 7 days 😭😭

Submitted(+2)

The combination of pixel character and 3D environment is very cool and the fact that it can rotate even cooler :) Music is also very fitting. I don't think it's possible to solve the puzzles without the hints though.

Developer(+1)

TYSM!! yeah the puzzles were designed a little too hard ( ;´ - `;)

Submitted(+2)

Voted! Good job =)

Developer(+1)

wooo thanks!! your game is super pretty hehe

Submitted(+2)

Loved the Breath of style camera system and pixel art. The tone and vibe was also super compelling. Well done!

Developer(+2)

thank you so much!!! i could say the same for your game :D

Submitted(+2)

You can make a wonderful horror game from the same design as this game

Developer(+1)

OOOH yes!! this is very true actually :000 like having things appear too as you rotate the room I LIKE THATT

Submitted(+2)

I really enjoyed playing the game. Especially the artstyle and the gameplay was amazing. But the puzzles were a little hard to solve, couldn't finish it without using some hints, maybe there could be some more hints in the game. Good job making a game this good in just a week :)

Developer(+1)

thank youu!! yeah i should've added some more hints TT ik the puzzles can get frustrating...

AND THANKSS your game seems amazing too! actually it's really similar to our team's initial idea LOL (though we changed the idea & didn't do anything until there were only 3 days left..)

Submitted(+2)

Very fun game. Congrats on finishing it on time!

Developer(+1)

thank you so much!! i'd play your game too but i can't on mac... qwq (i'll be on windows later tho so i might be able to! :0)

Submitted(+2)

Couldn't figured out first level :) but looks cool and great concept!

Developer(+1)

thank you!! you can still get through the game, there are hints lower down on the itch page hehe :D

Submitted(+2)

Really cool art and good polish! The puzzles are a little vague and impossible to figure out (especially the first room) but other than that I enjoyed the aesthetic.

Now that I've rated yours, could you rate my game please? https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-10/rate/2236541

Developer(+1)

thank youu!! and ahh yeah that puzzle was one i made a long time ago & just didn't wanna make it too easy hahaha

i'd love to rate your game, but unfortunately i have a phobia of that animal... TT... another one of our team members might be able to though :0

The game seems to have left a strong impression on players with its captivating art, innovative mechanics like rotating the room, and surprise elements like incorporating the game jam theme through posters. Despite some confusion about the story and puzzle complexity in places, players appreciate the effort put into puzzle design. The developer's responsiveness to feedback indicates a commitment to improving the experience. Overall, the game appears to have engaged players with its unique ideas and artistic presentation.

Developer

HAHA THANK YOU this is definitely one of the comments of all time... bro summarized the comments in a comment (҂ ꒦ິヮ꒦ິ)

I liked it a lot! Cant believe some people are this talented.

Developer

on behalf of team melon (who i agree is made of extremely talented people), THANK YOUU!!

your game seems amazing too, i'll be sure to check it out later! :D

The art is really good! I enjoyed the puzzles a lot expect in the 3th room where I didn't have to do the puzzle and I could just jump out. Overall an amazing game!

Developer

Oh wait, you didn't have to do puzzles in the 3rd room and you could jump.? That was a bug I thought I fixed... UHH...... thank you for the notice JFDSKHGS

Submitted(+2)

Yoo the art and the music really attract me! And the idea of rotating the room is very interesting! Though the story is a bit confusing for me, the idea of fitting the gamejam through posters inside your game really surprised me.

Developer

thank you so muchh!! as the story writer i would like to apologize at how strange it was (and how awkwardly it was conveyed) LOL i am used to visual novels so this is pretty new to me, i'll keep improving!! thank you for the feedback :DDD

(and yeah the "imaginary winner" is my favorite part LMAO)

i'd explain the story but i don't really wanna spoil it for anyone who hasn't played it yet TT

Soo I have some problems with the puzzle design they were unnecessarily complex like inputing the code to the scroll lock backwards, after you see the bear flipped in the photo? it doesn't really lead you to think to enter the code backward. The clock puzzle doesn't really tell you anywhere to input it in the 12 hour system like the clock literally starts in a impossible hour for that system 12:59, additionally the"Welcome to hell posters" where really crowded so it was hard to tell if it was just a story element or was it actually something related to the puzzle. The "input the calculator hell" was kinda confusing it could have used the lowercase h to push you into the number mentality better as you still needed to flip it... but apart from that the butterfly puzzle was pretty good with the butterflies being the same color as the sliders allowing you to connect the dots and the "the only way is down" poster connecting nicely with the up and down panel.

Developer

hahaha puzzle designer here, sorry about how hard it was i just didn't want to make it too easy (i love hard puzzles), tbh the butterflies being colored was something i didn't really agree with cuz i thought it'd be too simple LMAO

i do agree that the upside down bear was pretty hard to get though, i just thought it'd be too simple if it was right side up (also because 520 means "i love you" in chinese eheh) -- we could maybe rename "???" to "upside down bear?" when you're looking at the slip of paper?

the clock starts with 12:59 because that's the last time possible in non-military time but yeah i didn't really know how to make it more obvious TT

the posters were designed to sort of look like story elements, honestly that's the fun of it :D idt there's anything that you can zoom into that isn't a clue?

the H wasn't lowercase in the "welcome to hell" poster, but i did chop down one of the legs of the H a bit so it'd be clearer (idk if it was just cuz i knew the answer but the numbers seemed obvious the second i looked at it); you needed to flip the H because of the arrow you can see pointing from the 4 to the 7

thank you for the feedback!!!

This game is stunning! The biggest issue I had was that I kept forgetting that I could rotate the screen, which lead me to initially struggle in the first room. Overall an incredible entry.

Developer

ahhh gotchu, thank you so much (for the compliment in your other reply too)!!! that is a pretty valid issue, the first time i ran the project on my end i didn't realize you could either 😭 but maybe we could have a little instruction panel in the corner of room 1 in a future version, that might help?

Submitted(+3)

wowser. Amazing art. Will play more later. You did a great job 👏

Developer

thank you so much!! i'll check out your game later too 💕🥰

Submitted(+2)

didn't play yet but i love the cover picture already!
