How does your game fit the theme?
You wake up in an unfamiliar house. It appears that you have been locked in. You don't remember how you got there or even where "there" is to begin with. All you know is that you have to BREAK OUT!

Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
I wrote the code myself excluding the coding for the UI but used assets for all the art.

Assets used
UI Bundle - Michsky
Low Poly Bundle - JustCreate
Low Poly Keys - IPoly3d
Sounds Good - Melenitas Dev
Jupiter - Pinwheel Studio

I really liked your game! The graphics were really nice and the atmosphere was great. The music made me feel like I had been abducted and then trapped in that house, lol. You approached the game in a very similar way to mine, though I leaned more in the horror side.

Overall I really liked the game! One of the best i have seen in this jam!

This is one of the most complete feeling games I have played during the jam. I really liked the puzzles. I wish that it was longer or had more houses, because I find myself wanting to continue playing. Do you have any plans to extend the game in any way?

Developer

Glad you had a fun time! I will upload a patched and slightly changed version of the game onced the jam is over but I do not intend to continue development on this game. If you like this kind of game you should check out Escape Simulator(also the main reason why I wont continue development...cant compete with that one). Thanks for playing!

This game has a very good polish in all its aspects (graphics, audio, ui...).

The projector and switches puzzles were balanced, not too easy, not too hard. The safe puzzle was a bit too obvious. It would not be a problem if I was not the last puzzle before the end. But it is and it felt a bit anticlimactic.

Also I found the key in the switches puzzle room before solving it. It should be locked.

The game lenght is perferct for a game jam.

The atmosphere of the game was a bit confusing. The theme and the music suggest an horror game but the house seems very ordinary. It could use one or two weird props to set the mood a bit better.

Bugs and glitches:

- I had a very weird bug on the projector puzzle. I was entering the right combination but only the first color was working (orange), but the second one (blue) failed. I spent something like 15 minutes on it but it wasn't working. I watched Ategon's video, he was doing the same thing as I was doing. I restarted the game, still doesn't work. I restarted again, and it worked! I did exactly the same thing than in the first 2 tries I have no idea why it wasn't working.

- I got stuck between the window and the safe, but I was able to jiggle myself out of there eventually

- The shadows are glitchy (jagged edges)

Developer

Thanks for playing and the detailed feedback.

The projector glitching is weird and as far as I know it did not happen to anyone else but I will take a look at it and see if I can reproduce it. The clipping at the safe and a couple of other places is fixed in the final release. You are so right about the music but sadly I ran out of time to look for something that's fits better with the theme.

Thanks again for playing!

I have the same bug broo

Wow... So much time spent on the light projector puzzle... I found it really unintuitive, because even when I set the right color, it sometimes resets at the start ; it's frustrating.

Also, the switch addition puzzle is really hard to read because I wasn't really sure where the switch button was pointing (up or down). So it was 1/2 chance with the solution found 🤷‍♂️

For everything else, this game is pretty well polish, using UI packages, good light settings, options, credits, feedbacks, etc... (imo the music is out of context and could have been something else). This is actually a good virtual escape game and I wonder how it could have been with much time. Glad to played it, congratulations and hope you will continue!

This was an incredibly polished game! I think it was a great idea to have audio cues for successful and failed attempts, it helped me figure out the puzzles pretty quick. I think you hit a perfect balance between scope and quality... in jams I always swing way too much towards scope and as a result my quality takes a huge hit haha. It is difficult to come up with useful critique for the game besides the lighting being a little dark in some places, I think making the "maximum" darkness a little brighter or making the light switches have a slight glow would have been helpful. Great work overall, definitely a top contender for the jam.

Developer

Thanks a lot for the feedback, glad you enjoyed it. I agree with the comment about the level of darkness. I will make sure to make it a bit brighter for the fixed up version after the jam.

Don't worry I also overscoped by a lot at first. At first the game was supposed to have multiple level with different houses (you can actually see the first level in the background of the main menu, forgot to change that...) The original version of the level that made it into the final project only had a simpler version of the safe puzzle. Changed up the level and added the other puzzles all on Saturday after feedback from playtesters. Biggest advice I can give for jams in regards of overscoping would be...let people playtest as much as possible and cut everything thats not fun. Thanks again for playing!
