How does your game fit the theme?
The player has to collect resources and bring their agents back to home base before the red spot storm hits their mining operation

Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
All code was written from scratch. Some audio files are from Kenney assets and some from scratch with jsfxr. A base for a CRT shader was used and built upon from the Godot Shaders website.

Really interesting game, very nice!

A couple of things to improve, all of which are non-game-breaking and should not be iupdated during the jam but after, if at all,  might be:

  • An ability to insert previous mesages using the up and down arrows like in a console hostory might really add to the game
  • In case I think I did all the tasks earlier than the time, a command to speed up time and make the storm come sooner.
  • The agents don't seem to do anything differently from each other unless I missed something, or maybe this was planned initially but changed, not sure.
    • Instead I wonder if it's better to just have a single command like AGENTHELP to show the help for any agents, instead of EXECUTE AGENT_001 HELP, EXECUTE AGENT_002 HELP etc.

Overall, really cool game! However it might be just my opinion, I might be curious if someone who isn't too familiar with this sort of thing could play the game and liked it, or if they didn't really like it or had trouble playing it and why.

Great job!

Thanks for playing :) We both 100% agree with getting command history with arrow keys, and we even planned adding it - but just got cut due to time. Time speeding up is a great shout, haven't thought about that. We planned on having different commands installable to different agents to allow them to specialise, but we ran out of time :(

Its definitely a niche kind of game, and some play testers didn't 'get it' but they appreciated the vibe, if we develop it further after the Jam we would explore alot more into the usability of the terminal.

Very interesting game idea, typing sounds were nice :D

suggestion: player can use "up arrow" button to write the last inserted message to the console again

Here is my game if you want to try

Thank you!! Up arrow for previous command is a fantastic idea, I will certainly be adding it for the post-jam version :D Will check out your submission!

Hey, I was watching your youtube stream and you mentioned that you also took part in this game jam as well!  Enjoyed your game, it was pretty hard, but very well done.  I loved the aesthetic and audio, I think you did a great job showing just how much can be done with simple, but high quality assets.  The only critique I have is that it is not the most intuitive game play.  I think you could benefit from making the typed commands simpler (or even have a clickable list of the most common ones).  That might make it a little more welcoming to none programmers while at the same time still giving the "feel" of it.  Anyway, loved it!  Solid work!

Developer

Thanks for checking it out!! Was really nice talking with you on Stream as well :D Fully agreed on the system being quite unintuitive - love the idea of a command window! Definitely would want to put that + command auto-complete in a more fleshed out version of the game

Thank you!! Definitely went for a very niche concept, hopefully you’re right XD
