Fantastic dialogs, and such a tricky and fun minigame.. gave me moonknight (the show) vibes where while you are not looking all the action happens lol.

This was so fun to play. The art is beautifully done and the fights offer a really good challenge without feeling impossible. It gave me Undertale vibes with the way the fights were staged. Amazing work!

Glad you enjoyed! :D

When we realised we needed a combat scene, Undertale delivered a quick and easy to code inspiration indeed :P

(It was supposed to be slightly more different with the mouse controlling the soul, but I couldn't figure out a very seemless way to do that, that would also work on web)

Loved the art and mechanic with the book but I think the difficulty is a bit too high for eye monster.

Developer

Glad you enjoyed! :D

The eyebats are pretty tough indeed, I wanted a greater challenge for people who find the other combats too easy, cuz last Jam I noticed the commenters had a big divide in what they found hard/easy

The environments are absolutely beautiful!

Short but complete story and game experience. The "fighting"sequences are fun and refreshing. Would have liked a way to skip the dialog animations when replaying. There is quite some load time between the regular level and the fighting but that may just be the browser version.

Great job!

Developer

Glad you enjoyed!

For testing I implemented that you can skip dialogue by pressing [enter] but it creates some weird visual artefacts so I decided to not notify the player

The load time is indeed the browser version, I'm not sure what causes it :/

Nice work! Cool art style, and I liked the concept on the combat mini games.

I really loved it! The gameplay was fun!

The art style is really cool. Some stages are a bit difficult for me but still very fun.

Audio and Visuals are good and the gameplay was rather okay.

I expected the game to be much more different with and without the book. :-(

Nice, I love the art and fighting music, gameplay loop felt a bit forced but its alright!

Developer

> gameplay loop felt a bit forced

We were planning for more freedom, but I ended up with a lot less time then I thought I'd have :(

Really cool! Love the atmosphere. The blinking eye moon was cool. I did find it pretty difficult, sometimes the eye would open where I was and Id lose a life.

Game was very well made! I had fun trying to get past each enemy with and without the book. Some of the attacks were a bit random, but my biggest complaint is that it was too short. Good game.

Developer

Glad to hear you enjoyed, and congrats on doing both runs :D

We had bigger plans but had to scope down because I (programmer) ended up having way less time than planned

I love the art here, a cute take on undertale type combat!

Developer

Glad to hear you like the artwork! ♡

Natural_Power was the one who suggested the Undertale inspired combat system

I'm proud to say this... I've cleared the game with and without reading the book!!! Without reading the book, the bats are super hard... I have lost count on how many times i tried...
Love the game feels and game arts. I think my only feedback was that, i hope the bats movement are not random, so that try hard players can memorize them.

Developer

Congrats and glad you enjoyed! :D

Originally bats weren't gona be random, but I didn't have time to figure out and code a pattern for them, so they're about quick reaction time now

Beautiful visuals!
