How does the game fit the theme?
The theme is "Nothing can go wrong...' This game is a spin off of chess where all pieces move every turn. You're king, like all pieces, can be taken out in a single move. One wrong move and it's game over. So with each turn take a close look at the board and make for certain that 'Nothing can go wrong...'

What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
Music and Sound FX are purchased assets.

Everything else I made myself using programs such as Aseprite, Krita, and Godot.

very cool idea

Very, very interesting game. I had nobody to play with, so I played against myself. It was very fun tho. I definitely could see this as an interesting versus game.  I don't even want to know how difficult it was to script all the behaviour for the units (is that the right name in English for them? lol).

A very interesting take on chess. You have my deepest respect.

Really interesting concept. Even if I only played against myself, I still had a lot of fun.

This is such an awesome and unique twist to chess. Wish I had someone to play against but regardless is cool to play against myself.

This is a really interesting idea, unfortunately I did have to play against myself but I do really like the concept and seeing all the pieces move by themselves, great job!

Well done and clever idea. With how many spin-off games from Chess I've seen, I'm impressed that you came up with a novel one. Well implemented, and impressive for a solo dev. Playing against an AI would be cool, and maybe even limits on how many pieces you can summon in a turn?

If you get a chance, I'd appreciate any feedback on my game as well. Thanks!

As someone said it would be better with an AI for the enemies. But it's not bad at all!

Wow, the game has a unique identity, and is presented very well. The music and pixel art evoke a mysterious vibe. It might be even more fun if it had CPU.

Love the idea but this requires an AI for solo players.

I love chess and i love this take on the game i would probably buy this game and would like to play this vs my friends!

Developer

Thanks for playing and I'm glad that you liked it. It's always good to hear about when people are interested in a concept, so that I can know what ideas are worth exploring further.

pretty solid, cool stratagy, I think the movement on turns is a little too learny and unpredictable but that is probably a skill issue on my end. This could be a really fun game to burn time with friends, keep polishing it!

Developer

Thanks for playing!

To be frank you're right about the movement feeling unpredictable and whatnot. I mean it technically follows some fairly straightforward rules when choosing what moves to make, but that's all very opaque to the player. Possibly some sort of indicators showing where each of your pieces will move each turn could help on this front.

Well thanks, I'm glad that you liked it. I do have some other chess themed ideas in mind that I may try out in future jams.
