Seriously though, great game. Impressive level of polish. I like the blinding mechanic to offset the use of the slow motion, it works well. Audio could do with a little polish, but it still does the job pretty well. Nice work!

Developer

Audio is really something i can still improve a lot on, thank you for playing! :)

Very decent and quite polished game.

I would argue though that the cursor(heart) is moving very slow. In this type of games (avoid tons of particles) the controlled object's movement is usually immediate and for a good reason: because how much and fast you need to react to the environment. It might be a bit smoothed out. But in your game it follows the mouse too slowly.

Another slightly annoying thing is the intro sequence. In this type of game you restart level dozens of times and watching the same thing over and over again is boring.

Check out my game (3D-horror) as well: https://nns2009.itch.io/love-full-house

Hooray for Bullet Hell games! I've never been very good at them, though. This is a fun one to play! I like the blind aspect and appreciate that it seems to be capped as to how blind you can be. So if you really wanted to, you could play at the slow speed the whole time but only ever see a portion of the screen. Innovative!

Developer

Im glad you liked it! Also, you're totally right about the blindness being capped and the possibility to use it for a whole level.

Thank you :)

Amazing game concept. Simple idea, but alot of fun to play. Wish the first levels were a bit easier designed. Also , you could try to improve the soundtrack  a bit.

Audio in general is something where i can still improve a lot, i always struggle with it :D Thanks for the feedback

Wow, awesome graphics. Minimalist, but still very polished. I wish that there cursor were locked to the webgl frame though. I had a few deaths from getting stuck on the edges when moving slightly outside of the frame. Great job all the same!

Thank you so much :)

Super nice game. Really makes me want to play more and more! It would be cool with a way of seeing how far I have gotten when I die. But overall I really like it.

Developer(+1)

That actually would be a cool idea to implement :) Thanks for playing

Wow absolutely gorgeous minimalist style! Took a second to get the hang of the movement delay (since I'm not a huge bullet-hell fan) but I liked the trade-off of slowing down time and reducing visibility. Very well-made and polished!

Loved this! The audio could use a little more work, but it is a great mood and fun gameplay. You have the player make the tough decision between slow motion and full vision -- that makes it feel like less of a gimmick and more of a meaningful choice. Very fun! I think that this fits "love is blind" as a separation of words ("love" -- the graphics -- and "blind" -- the mechanics) rather than a unified concept. Maybe there would have been some way to connect the two. The name of the game itself shows how these two ideas are pretty separate: Bullet and Heart smashed together. One idea for how to unify them and keep your vision the same would be to have the player need to stay near someone that they "love" and dodge the bullets as they come. This is fantastic execution and a polished game jam game. Well done!

Developer

Thank you for that detailed review! I love to hear that most people seem to like it :)

This is probably the most polished game I've played from the jam. Love the minimalism of the game, the menu, the music goes well with the game. this game totally deserves a stronger logo, though. And maybe some tweaks on the BG? Not sure why sometimes the BG changes in lvl 1...it turns out to be super difficult. Be nice to us!haha Great job ! We would love your feedback, too! =)

btw, how did u interpret the theme?

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for playing it nielisson :)

I found it to be a pretty difficult theme. Basically i have those hearts which shoot at you and if they hit you or if you use your slow-motion ability you will loose some of your vision for a small amount of time

ah that makes sense. awesome one

Pretty cool game! Very challenging and skill based which may cause some frustration but as this is the games purpose it has done a damn great job at it!

Amazing job!

Lovely (viscerally) and well polished. Love the menu design and the clear information you provided. Nice feeling to roam such a great menu! :)

The gameplay is really fun and it feels so smooth to turn around and avoid obstacles. Also I love the fact you can slow time. Great effect.

Well done!

This game is very well polished! I like the graphics (especially the color palette! ;)), the AI movements (very nice patterns) and the SFX. Good job!

PS: I could not finish any level...

Developer (1 edit)

Oh i've also struggled really hard testing it :D Thank you for playing
