Wow, this is a pretttty solid game, with strong points all around. Really, it is such that even tho I don't feel that this is the MOST amazing game ever, but I really can't point a weak spot or flaw in this game.
I'll say this goes into my GameJam Showcase worthy games list. Good job.
Wow guys, amazing work! I could totally see this in an arcade cabinet. I beat the boss and difficulty ramped up too much for me haha. There were a few instances I felt a little cheated by the spikes hitboxes, maybe just a biiiit smaller, but overall I felt good. It's super polished too!

The leaderboards a really cool feature to throw into a jam game, it actually works really well because right off the bat I see how deep other people were capable of getting. It acted as a nice incentive. Games super fun and addicting, nice work!

I'm getting a lot of positive feedback regarding the leaderboards, So just incase anyone is interested who reads this i used a free "service" called Dreamlo.com, wasn't too complicated to integrate, however i did have to make a donation of $5 to the creator because i needed a SSL (HTTPS) upgrade for it to work on webGL apps. However that donation isn't required for desktop apps.

One of my favorite game of the jam. Everything is top notch, the audio, the pixel art. I really loved the spikes and the fact that they had blood stains on them. Really cool!!
I just felt the game's difficulty increases steeply, or maybe it's just me who's felt this :) . I really wanted to go lower but I could only reach 100m.

I did intend to make the game procedural, however i didn't have enough time, and i wanted everyone in the jam to have the same level, so i ended up just creating the level by hand which took a while, so i opted at the time to make it get harder pretty quickly so that i could "limit" how much of the level i could create in time for the jam, i am very interested in looking into procedural work on it after the jam!

Didn't get to go that deep. Only up to 100M but this game is a fun game! Happy tunes that encourages to keep on going. The fire effects were cool. The death fx for the monkey and his hat falling off were nice touches. Love it!
