This is my new favorite game of the jam. Everything about it was so well done! If it wasn't so short I wouldn't even know it was a jam game. My only feedback is you need some way to lose otherwise you can just keep going till you win. You could do that a lot of ways its really up to you. For example in my game (Also a detective game :D) I put in a turn limit. i don't think that would fit your game as well so just experiment with it. Phenominal work!

Hey, loved your game, loved your art , music , game design ,a bit of polish and your game will be pretty cool! I enjoyed playing it.
All the best and Good luck! Do check out our game we need the feedback! - https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-3/rate/574293
Really really cool premise, but I found the grill mechanic to be pretty inconsistent. There was one time that I asked a question, but the suspect dodged the question. Grilling them didn't get me the answer I was looking for. Then there was discrepancies like the wife saying she was close to Shylock, but shylock denying that, which didn't come up when grilling. There was quite a few details that never quite lined up, making me hesitant to grill, even when I was pretty sure about it. Then there were some times that you could grill, even when I'm pretty sure no one had any evidence against it.
Mild spoilers ahead. I was a bit disappointed by the outcome, the motive felt pretty weak, and there wasn't really any twist. In the end, I had a hunch, but no solid evidence pinning the murderer. I think you could have done some interesting stuff with Shylock and Goldie's alibi, like they both said that Goldie was at Shylock's apartment, but neither mentioned that Shylock was at his apartment. I had suspected that he was off doing other things, but nope. I'd argue that the big twist is the highlight of most good detective stories, but this game lacked any big 'aha' moments. The chief said that the murderer would lie and cheat their way out, but the culprit didn't really lie that much. The grilling mechanic never even ended up being that useful. Each grill could only give a few sentences of info, and that info was very rarely useful.
Overall, the game was great, but the final culprit wasn't particularly satisfying. The art was amazing, good heckin job with that, and it was cool how you had some choice in what you ask. Despite those few things with the plot, I did enjoy digging up dirt on the different suspects, and finally being able to catch them in a lie. Incredible atmosphere and music, made for a great mystery! Congrats on your game, I hope you can get a few more ratings and comments before the jam closes!
Unique game idea and nice concept. The dialogues are very entertaining. I love the sounds ecspecially the background music, it is so cosy and relaxing and fits well with the theme of the game.
Aesthetics of this game are amazing! Although I must say the text and especially the intro text is way too slow, but otherwise, really neat. I'd appreciate it if you would check out my game too!
Nice mood and style! Reminded me of "Papers, Please".
The detective/interrogation work was interesting, though I wasn't sure what to do after I had grilled each of them once and talked about the new subject with the others. Didn't find any new dialogue to follow up on. I suspect Goldie did it, but couldn't prove it.
The text could go faster, and maybe even have the option of just having the text pop up at once. And I wish there was more to do during the interrogation, like pointing out discrepancies in their stories by asking certain questions in the right order (in one answer Shylock pretended not to know Digger's wife, but in other answers he clearly knew her well).
Not sure how the "holes" theme was present here, unless you mean the holes in the suspects' stories or the bullet holes in Mr. Digger's body. I do like detective games, though, so I'm happy you made one. The story, characters and the mechanics were interesting. Good work!
Thanks first of all! Lucas Pope is a big inspiration of mine, glad people see the influence. Yeah once you grill them all you can hit the 'pin' button on one of the suspects in the menu to see if you got it right, could probably make that clearer. Our idea with theme was exactly that, holes in the stories, also glad someone caught the pun with the holes in his body lol. Thanks for the writeup, we appreciate the feedback!
Great game! The text and transitions can be a bit faster tho. But good work overall!
Very well-put together game, kept me involved the whole time I was playing it. Sure hope I got it right!
The atmosphere of the game is very good. The introduction was very long. If you want to play it again you need a skip button.
Very good job!
Loving the theme, reminds a bit of "Interrogation: You will be deceived" hopefully you continue on this.
Love the atmosphere and the art! Playing on Chrome the sides and top of the screen were cut off a bit during the interrogation, so missed a couple of words, but loved the feel of the game. Good work! Check out my submission if you get time. Cheers!
