In what way does your game fit the theme?
The main mechanic is that your rewind the time on enemies by scratching a record like a DJ.
Did you write most of the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
Yes. I used aesprite for the pixel art, and used mixamo plus a custom script to get the character sprites from the tutorial.

This is a decent game, and there are a lot of good things about what you've done here. The rewind mechanic is subtle yet works well. The graphics and music both work well too, and the atmosphere is fun and upbeat. I like the bullet hell-type deal you've got going on, but there are some bugs. Sometimes the little guys will get stuck on the side of the record. The big guys are kind of boring too- they don't pose much of a threat because of how slow they move yet they have an enormous amount of health, so I would often just stand in one place for a few minutes to defeat them. Sometimes the audio will stop and restart. It also feels too easy at points- there's no clear objective or danger because the rewind will always get you out of a pinch. Overall though, this is quite a funky game and I hope you guys are considering developing it further post-jam. If it's not too much trouble, I would really appreciate a review on my game too when you get the chance!
Thanks!
Ill definitely give yours a play right now!
Good audio, the mobile enemies are fun but I find the big ones to be pretty boring as I just hovered close to them smelling the poop. This might be a metaphor for modern clubbing though.
Atmosphere is nice and mesmerizing and it definitely has pump. Valiant effort!
Also the text in the tutorial section gets obscured by the darkening, this may also be a metaphor about the modern educational system.
All in all a good one mate, please give me a rate too if you find the time kind stranger!
I'm so glad that someone gets the education system nod!
Hey my friend, here is a detailed criticism and things that i liked in your game. Read it through and see what can be improved upon.
Pros:
- Design is cool
-Soundtrack is fun but can get annoying sometimes
Cons:
-Setup is very sketchy
-The animation at the start, cuts and comes back
-For some reason I could not pass the first level, two "poopies" were going the other direction and with no weapons I could not kill them and they just stood there
-The controls are not great but I have seen worse, the player keeps drifting away from cursor when he is walking and considering the small scale of the map it is not effective and kind of gets you into enemies
Sorry for harsh criticism but unless someone says this then you wont learn from it. Thanks for reading it all and hope you can give my game a shot as well. Here is the link for you. https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-4/rate/724850
The Boss was very well designed, very fun game!
Love the artstyle and the atmosphere
Cool game, but i had a very hard time reading the text in the beginning, perhaps because it had the same color as the background, so i skipped it and went in blind :P
Really cool art and aesthetic! Loved the 3d models, and the music was solid as well. I had the issue as well with a little ui cut off but that's not too big of a deal. Otherwise I think the controls could be tightened up a little bit. Nice job!
This is really fun! I enjoyed the music and firing system.
Thanks for the feedback. Don't forget to rate the game.
Out of interest, has anyone managed to beat the boss yet?
This is a really cool game! The UI was a bit cut off on my screen, but I love the music and aesthetic. My only suggestion would be to keep the spirit attached to the mouse like a cursor, giving the player more direct control over the action. That way, you can safely ramp up the difficulty over time and be sure that there are no "cheap deaths". Great work! Please check out our game if you haven't already!
The game is really cool, it's dynamic and the concept is nice. I am having fun just sitting there and randomly movingmy mouse around.
Very cool interpretation with the dj. I really like your game! Awesome
Thank you everyone who has replied so far!
Really like the concept for this but I feel like the controls could be a little more refined, I felt like I was just waiting for my character to kill the enemies most the time rather than taking it into my own hands. Loved the music and graphics though, the 3D models were sick.
Amazing!
Great concept and nice music. Tutorial is perfect! The large enemies I had to just sit and wait for them to die, and I never felt in danger enough to have to rewind cause they don't deal too much damage. Lots of good stuff here, just needs a little work.
Fun and Refreshing.
loved the scratch effect kip up the good work
Great game very good music. fun concept but the big ones could be given a little less health because sometimes i just sit waiting for them to die
I don't really understood the scratching effect in-game, making me confused. However, it is a very groovy game with an interesting mechanic.
