Wow, this game is so cool! Instantly understood how to rewind before even using the mechanic. Movement, for the most part, was really tight, only wall-jumping seemed a little off to me. I threw me a little that the character could wall-jump from the ground, and then I had to hold towards the wall when jumping off it. Once I’d gotten used to it, it was fine however. The art is fantastic, and the audio is lovely and really fitting. The puzzle progression felt good, and I liked how you turned the bar at the top into a time attack/management puzzle, although originally I was getting killed by it and didn’t know it existed, I don’t know if there is a way to make it more obvious (honestly it doesn’t matter). Excellent project, thoroughly enjoyed it!

In what way does your game fit the theme?
A mysterious and mute protagonist journeys across different dimensions existing in past, present and future, observing the complexities of what once was. With the aid of peculiar time-reversing abilities, traverse three temporally-trapped zones while platforming through space and preventing time from collapsing on itself.
While jumping, time rewinds around you. Raindrops float upwards and moving platforms return to their start. Keep the timeline stable by ensuring time never moves too far forward or backwards.
Did you write most of the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
Yes. We built it off of Monogame, Visual Studio, and the Ogmo tile editor. All assets were made from scratch, including all art and music, with the exception of sound effects which were adapted from royalty-free sounds found on Zapsplat. FMOD and Monogame integration was based on https://github.com/Martenfur/ChaiFoxes.FMODAudio

Wow you used FMOD too! The game is enchanting. I don't really understand the purpose of time rewinding in this platformer.
Very cool game idea and execution. Beautiful pixel art. I got major Celeste vibes off this game. I would really like to see a better slide feel for wall jumps something was off about it and it really put a damper on the experience. Also doing the platforming, keeping track of objects that change direction when you jump, and balancing going too forward or back in time was too much to keep track of for me. It felt kind of overwhelming/unfair, and any two of those mechanics could be combined to make something super cool. Awesome game, I home you keep updating it, look forward to seeing where it goes!
Thank you for your review! The team is discussing continuing development after the rating period ends, so we'll be updating our game page. There's definitely a bit of wall jumping jank, so that will be fixed if we release an update in the future. Unfortunately the timeline bar is kind of a necessary mechanic, because without it, moving platforms would just keep moving in whatever direction. Levels become much easier too, because there is no penalty for reckless jumps, which makes it harder to design interesting mechanics and puzzles; the timeline bar opens up a lot of design possibilities, such as objects that allow you to jump without rewinding or areas in which the timeline bar is shorter/longer. The timeline bar is pretty central to our jump rewind mechanic, but we're open to any suggestions on how to make it better!
One of the best truly! Art amazing, main mechanich amazing, self-explanatory. Nothing but, great game!
I would really appreciate your opinion on mine as well if you have a moment.
This is the best game I have played in the jam. WOW, that was fun and I want more! The mechanics were great and no level felt boring, very rewarding game that I could play for a long time, I wanna know more about the story of this character and the world they inhabit! The OST is so good and fits the theme of the game perfectly.
Thank you so much for your review and we're really glad you enjoyed our game! A lot of story elements did not make it into the game because of time constraints, but we are in the talks of continuing development post-jam. These updates will be posted on our game page so stay tuned if you're interested! We're glad you liked the soundtrack too - it can be found on SoundCloud here.
This game is actually amazing. The rewind mechanic is implemented flawlessly, and the game itself plays really, really well. I had a lot of fun with it and it's probably one of my favorite games of the jam so far.
Also, the fact that you built it in monogame with such little time is really impressive, so props to you and your team for this! Truly a masterpiece.
I'd appreciate it if you gave a try to my game, thanks!
It was a bit hard to get the game running, but it was worth it.
The design was really good, as well as the music and art. Close to the end the game crashed when dying, giving me a blackscreen and death sound loop, but I restarted just to see the ending, I didn't regret it.
Thanks for your review! A number of other people have run into that endgame crash so we'll be looking into that post-jam. Sadly we didn't complete the second and final areas to our original scope but we are highly considering fleshing out those areas and adding new ones as well. Glad you enjoyed the game!
I like the mechanics of the game and how the player moves. Good job.
I notice that you wrote it with .net core 3.1 and MonoGame.. good job.. I used to work with XNA many year ago but Unity it is much faster.
Good Job for one week.
My game is a casual game if you wanna rate is https://misterm.itch.io/mixtape-match , Thanks
Thanks for your review! Writing in Monogame was definitely a challenge for us, but well worth it. An overwhelming proportion of the games in this jam use Unity, and as a result, they encounter many of the same issues and bugs in platforming (weird jumps, bad slopes). Writing the code from scratch allowed us to overcome these issues, but took much longer than if we had used Unity. We took some inspiration from Celeste's code too, so that helped us. We're glad you liked our game and we will definitely check out your game.
The time mechanic, the the level design, and art style is amazing . One of the best game I played so far on this jam. I enjoyed this game a lot!
That's a cute game and I've enjoyed it. I loved your implementation of the theme. Honetsly, sometimes it was difficult for me to understand where the hazards are. I was shocked when I was killed by the grass, which actually is the spikes.
There are some things to improve but right now the game looks good, it sounds good and most importantly it plays good!
I'll admit at first, I was a little bugged I had to install the .Net core thing to play Faux, but I'm really glad I did! What a wonderful, lovely game!
(P.S. : for some reason, Itch.io really wants to feature Rick's Flix as my submitted game, but was just a collaborator in this one, all I did was the music and SFX! ...I mean, I'm proud of it and everyone should play it but this is the actual submission I made : https://lefleat.itch.io/forward)
Wow, i just can't stress enough how much I enjoyed this game! Let me start with what I found to be the most brilliant mechanic of this game: the time-travel, specifically how it's linked to the character's jumping abilities. I absolutely love how such a basic moveset is recontextualized by the rewind mechanic and how much depth it adds to the game. Suddenly, jumping is not only a means to move upwards but it's also a resource, the player has to be attentive and strategize where and when to jump in order to keep the airtime relatively low so the "time-bar" doesn't go all the way to the left. Suddenly, wall sliding is not only useful to slow-down your descent or to wall jump, but in this game it's also a way to stop the "jumping state" of the character and stop the rewinding of time. I also really like how the time mechanic can influence other moving obstacles, such as platforms of hazards. I might be biased because I really like challenging platformers with interesting mechanics (Celeste is one of my favorite games of all time), but I found the level design to be phenomenal, especially the more challenging levels towards the end of the game, complemented by the amazing music. I really like the rain effect and the way it's used as a visual indicator that time is moving forward/backwards, and I love how it gets faster as it approaches the end of the "time-bar" (timeline?), which yet again serves as a visual indicator but at the same time it makes the platforming in the later levels that much more intense. It feels great to see the rain get faster and faster, yet somehow still living afterwards and seeing the rain speed go back to normal. Other than a few minor bugs/issues, this is probably my favorite game I've played of this jam, I'd definitely like to play an even more polished, full version of this. Great job!
What a great achievement for just one week! Even though I don't like platformers, I must say that this a really cool idea for a game mechanic. I liked the graphics and the audio was really good! I believe this idea has a lot of potential. Keep up the good work
I just loved the game! Everything 10/10 and full score! Just remember that I was here before this game became popular on Steam ;)
I loved the thought you put into this as well as the art style, very pleasing and fun overall!
