In what way does your game fit the theme?
It's about 2 mages that have the power to rewind back to the position of the other mage.

Did you write most of the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
I made everything by myself during the jam.

Okay, so this game was pretty neat!

Having the 2 player characters to swap between in order to complete platforming puzzles was really interesting and added a lot. However, this mechanic had some bugs, namely that I could trap myself in walls by teleporting the player up to the other character. This was really annoying at times. You should do a check if the space is taken up by a collider and try to put the character on the other side.

There's no sound, which was a bit of a bummer, although time constraints get in the way and I understand.

Graphically the game is a bit dull, but the player sprites are quite good. I'd ease up on the repetitive tiles though.

Having multiple enemy types (the gray one could fly, right?) was cool, but the gray ghost got bugged for me and it was easy to cheese by just getting him stuck against a surface while flying past it and he remains this way until made to switch directions away from the wall. You should adjust your collisions to allow sliding across, which would negate this.

The theme wasn't really implemented as it was more of a teleport than a rewind, I mean, they weren't rewinding to a previous position or anything, just moving to each other's new positions.

The 3rd ability could have said what it did, as it was confusing at first.

Cool idea though!

Thank you so much for leaving a great comment and playing my game!

I'm planning on improving upon the game after the jam is over and will be improving the things that you pointed out.

I actually had a better idea to implement the theme but wasn't able to make it, because I definitly overscoped. My idea was to give each mage the ability to rewind themself to their position from 3 seconds ago. And if the mages worked together they could instead of that rewind the entire world 3 seconds. I didn't have enough time for it tho so at the end I was kinda improvising with how I've had implemented the theme.

Hey man here we go with constructive criticism )

Pros:

-Love the artstyle

-As we spoke in discord and you told me it is procedural level generation! That part was awesome always loved procedural generated maps

-Love how you can fling your buddy at the enemy haha

Cons:

-The enemies are a bit difficult to kill because they dont always go on a straight trajectory they like to go diagonally at you and as you can throw your bud just horizontally it kind of makes it hard to hit them.

-Tutorial or instructions would have been nice as i had to message you to figure out that you can fling the friend at enemies.

-Some visual feedback other than hp that mage has been hit.

-Also you can make the enemy attack the mage then run away from it for some distance until coming back to attack again.

Thanks for your feedback!

I agree with all of your points. I think that i'll update the game in a bit and i'll adress every con.

I was thinking of letting the player input a direction to throw at as well to fix the first con, do you think that would be a good solution?

I think if I was able to throw my friend at where my mouse was pointing it would be good. You can also do it like my game where it calculates the angle of the mouse from player and has 8 different directions it can be shot to

Developer(+1)

That would be a good solution, but I was thinking of adding controller support to the game. So a mouse wouldn't workt anymore then.

Then that method would work perfectly haha, Also would be way easier to play.

Okay, I think it will be better to try and give some direction in which to go in my opinion, rather than just blast the game with pointing out the negatives, so I'll try that.
1. Some kind of tutorial would be 100% necessary, while it is quite obvious what's going on pretty quick, it still doesn't really show any goals other than "points".
2. Much better collision should also be implemented, as at my first playthrough blue mage just fell through the floor
3. Sound effects and music make the games better with few simple clicks, it's a sin to not include them, you should check out how much better the game with even simple sound effects is. I mostly use freesound(dot)com for creative commons 0 sounds to use in my jam entries, but you can look around for different sites.
4. Skills that you use should give player a feedback of what they did or are supposed to do, I personally had no idea what my skills did. With the "rewind back to other mage position" - if it's supposed to rewind, give it a rewind animation, not just teleport it to the other mage, with the "F" if I remember correctly I had 0 idea what the skill did. In giving feedback for the player you can use things that the player should already be familiar with, for example everyone expects spikes or fire to deal damage.
5. Enemies should also provide feedback other than just the HP of the mage dropping down.
6. Level design is very important in a game like this, so consider making it more clear with adding different colors or props to let player distinguish which part of the map he/she currently is on.

Anyway, to end on a high note, the mages look very cute and nice, although with added animations they would look even better.
The most important thing is that the game, while seems really unfinished, was put out there to be judged with takes courage to do so.

Hope you'll find it helpful in some way, don't get discouraged, stay motivated and keep up trying in game jams :)

Developer

Hey thank you for your feedback, I completely agree with you!

I kinda shot myself in the leg with spending way too many hours on the level generation and not having time to implement proper enemies, sounds, art and the boss.

I was also planning on adding things such as a tutorial, but I didnt have the time sadly.

I think that i'll improve the game after the jam is over and I'll adress each of your points.

Thanks for playing my game.
