How does you game fit the theme?
As the player you will need a special to jump on "fake" blocks in the game. In this way the player need to feel their way through the game whats real or not, and how to overcome it.

Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
Yes and no. A lot was made from me, the "assets" used is mostly just unity boxes except the skybox which is found here: https://assetstore.unity.com/packages/2d/textures-materials/sky/free-stylized-skybox-212257
Also the Code is made by me but some with help from youtube. Especially credit to: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jidloC6gyf8

Really nice game! I like how you managed to make it in one week. I like the idea of the game and the fact that has some puzzles elements. Congrats, you did very well!

If you want some feedback, here's mine: I think it will be amazing if you can add some sounds to it, it was very quiet ^_^. Still, very enjoyable.

Developer

Thanks! The feedback means a lot and glad you liked it! :D Yeah, sound is needed and in the time of writing implemented in the version that will be uploaded as fast the gamejam is over! :D Thanks again! :D

Good job! I really liked how you managed to make this pretty unintuitive ideas land so smooth on game's progression curve without single line of tutorial. That's actually some good gamedesigning skills right there. Level design is also really smart. Wish game was bit longer :)

Check out my game too if you have time!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback and playing! Glad you liked it and also thanks for the kind words! I will do my best to make it longer! :) Have three more levels planned already so :D

Yeah, absolutely, will check it out! :)

The concept is interesting! Fun game 🕹 Well done 👍 (Jumps sometime act a bit strange -stick to upper walls-🧐)

Developer(+1)

Yeah, the walls is bugging me xD Thanks for playing and for the kind feedback! :D

Well done! It's a good game.

I love how there's a puzzle element to it rather than just a platformer with fake platforms (which is very common in this jam from what I can see). The powerup really makes your game stand out from the other games with "fake" blocks.

I think the player's movement could be improved, especially when you jump near a ledge. If you jump and hit a ledge from below, your character stops moving up all of a sudden. It's a bit jarring. But small bugs are to be expected from game jam games, it's not too bad!

Also: I would have increased the radius that you can see around the player when it's a fake block - maybe making it a wider radius, but making the area of the block that is inside that radius transparent instead of fully invisible.

Is there no sound? Some simple sounds could go a long way.

The "Options" and "Credits" menus are completely empty, I'd just remove them. Or better yet, complete the credits with what you have in the "Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?" entry! It's good enough!

Overall it was a nice game, well done!

Developer(+1)

Hi and Thanks a lot for the feedback!

I am very glad that you liked the puzzle element and that it separates me from the rest, A common fear I had during development was to make something too similar to others project as my idea for me felt very basic. But its lovely to hear that I succeeded to make the game stand out!

Yeah, both player movement and  the "see through" shader will be improved. But first and foremost the ledge bug will be fixed as it is very nerve wracking even during play-testing. And the "see through" radius will stay the same during most of the gameplay, only while going through something like the big block in the existing level the radius will increase to increase visibility! But I will have you feedback in my head during these fixes! :D

Sound, Options and Credits was not prioritized for some reason. But I did actually add sound yesterday which felt really nice,  also as a bonus to that the options now has both Sound and SFX sound settings. And the Credits will contain the text in this submission and also the sound credits! :D

Thanks again for the kind words and for playing! :D <3

Nice mechanics! a little graphic improvement and it could be a fun puzzle game to play! Gg wp

Developer

Yeah! Working on that! :D Thanks for the feedback and for playing! :D

Submitted(+1)

great job and keep up the good work!

Submitted(+1)

Very interesting use of the "invisible platform" mechanic! I think it has a good foundation to keep on working on this mechanic and make a bigger game. Good job!

Developer

Thanks a lot!
Yeah, I really like the mechanic too and I am proud I got it to work! And I will do my best to get my ass to make it a bigger game! :D

This game has a really good concept and I would really like to see it developed further. Despite the lack of artworks, the use of lighting is good.

Developer(+1)

Well thank you! Took the whole week to learn as much as possible about lightning, sadly was not able to use it all, but to be honest, it would just be a mess then hehe. But I am glad you like it! And the graphics/artwork will be "upgraded", i hope :D Thanks for playing! :)

Submitted(+1)

Nice concept! The graphics were basic but it was interesting to play.

Developer

Thanks a lot! Yeah, I meant to change the graphics if time would had allowed but sadly, it didn't. But I am glad that you found it interesting and thanks for playing! :)

Submitted(+1)

Really cool concept that could be something great! It needs some proper feedback and information upfront to really work. I would love to have a conversation about it if you ever get a chance.

Developer

Agrees! As a future game programmer I love getting feedback and expand my knowledge! Would absolutely be fun to have a conversation about it all! Sadly I am quiet busy this week, but next week maybe, I can give you a  pm or similar when time allows! Thanks for your feedback and for playing the game! :D

I was confused about what to do for a hot minute but I figured it out and it was smooth sailing from there :) I liked the visuals when going through "fake" platforms, and it was fun to investigate and find a way to the end! I think adding music/sound effects would add a lot more to the experience but overall I enjoyed playing!

Developer

Yeah, was sadly not able to do a "tutorial" at the beginning but its nice you figured it out! Thanks for the feedback and for playing! :D
Also I will do my best to add music and sfx! But glad you liked the game! :D

Submitted(+1)

Nice use of the cutout shader!
I think the start screen could just have "play", but not populating options and credits fits with the theme :)

Developer

Thanks! Yeah, it actually does haha! Didn't think of that before. :D Thanks for the feedback!

Submitted(+1)

The platforming felt amazing apart from the one collision issue with the sides of the walls. I really did enjoy this game! Great job!

Developer(+1)

Thanks a lot for the feedback! Yes, the side of the walls issue bothers a lot of people, so I will fix it as soon as possible. :D

Submitted(+1)

really fun small game that fit the theme very well. just a bit of a glitch when you get to close to the walls

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! :D
Yeah, its really annoying.. Just me wanting to get the game feel like a game more than fixing that hehe.. But hopefully I will be able to dispose the time better next time and fix the movement properly for future projects!

(1 edit) (+2)

It's a fun game, it will be better if there's music or sound fx in the game.
i also found a bug where you stuck at wall when u jump at the edge of the platforming
cool game :D

Developer

Thanks!
I agree 100%, I wish I had took a minute to find some music and sfx but the time was not there sadly. But I will take the feedback and dispose my time better next time! :)

I was confused for the first 30 seconds, and then managed to finish it smoothly. Simple and fun

(for some reason my comment got posted 4 times whoops)

Developer

Thanks! I can understand that, was sadly unable to make some sort of tutorial or likewise, But I am glad you finished it and found it smooth :P Your feedback means a lot! :)

Submitted(+1)

This is a wonderful first project! Very short and simple! Hope you make more stuff in the future!

Developer(+1)

Thanks! Yes sir, more will come, I promise! :D

Submitted(+1)

Unexpected gem!

At first sight it may seems simple, but the mechanics are really fun and smart!

Played it all from start to finish! Good job

Developer(+1)

Wow Thanks! Appreciate the feedback! :D

Submitted(+1)

Wow that was surprisingly really fun.

Going in I wasn't expecting much but it was a lot better than I thought

my only complaint is its to short!!!!

Developer

Yeah, too short indeed! Thanks for the kind words and the feedback! :) Will try to dispose my time better next time so I have time for more levels and so on! :D

Submitted(+1)

Nice Game but i found a glitch with jump when you are right next to a wall

Developer

Hi! Yeah, it has bugged me a lot during play-testing too.. But it was not really prioritized as more important things was not done. But I hope to fix it in the future!  Thanks for the feedback!

Submitted(+1)

Very Nice Concept! I think that with some sound and extra mechanics your game would be really cool and a polished game!

Developer(+1)

Thanks a lot! Yeah I think that too! :D
