I did one run of this. Had to consult the instructions on how to pick up things on your desc page, because the game doesn't tell you what to do. The problem is further compounded by the fact that your icons indicate you ALREADY have the gear. For instance, the icon for the key in the bottom left that rotates indicates to me I already have the key. So when I went to the genie that has the key, I didn't pick it up on contact and did pick it up while pressing space. I then assumed, I already have the key.
Your game generally looks quite pretty, but feels very unfinished. I have a detailed character, but he has no attack animation. That led me to think you may have more bugs in the game than you did. See above.
Controls are fine, if unclear. The sprinting has an unnecessary button dedicated to it. As you have no stamina, what's the point of its existence other than tiring my pinky?
The combat is unrefined. I killed every chomp enemy by spamming my click. The boss on the other hand has much more HP and no knockback, so I beat it by running around in circles and having my tip of the sword as it animates hit it. I managed to kill it with 1 heart left. But it was not a satisfying fight. Too repetitive and high risk. Also, it's almost impossible to predict when the boss will hit you due to feedback being poor and colliders being unclear.
The best part for me was the art.
The ending justified the theme somewhat, but, it seems like a gimmick to me.
This is some solid feedback dude!
Yeah I know all of these problems exist. But in the end I said "eh whatever" it'll be fine it's my first jam I won't get far.
I did make an attack animation but it didn't really look that good so I dropped it :S
You can't even die in the game because I never got to implement it.
I didn't even dedicate a minute to polish.
Thanks for the feedback man!
Really cool game! The art was very nice!
Nice art and partical effects. However, I didn't die when my health reached zero and it was a bit difficult to fight the black enemies. The ending was pretty funny though.
I love the end!
Haha thanks!
The art style and the effects are cool, I really liked the handdrawn minimap at the top!
Nice. Really liked the hit effect
Awesome game! nice art and effects
Really cool game. I am impressed that is your first game jam. Very good job. Will check out your next game for sure. That ending like a slap in the face...I like it :) hehe
Thanks for the nice words!
I really liked it, but there should be sounds other than the sound effect
It was quite short but sweat, I liked the genies hmmm hmmm's, but I think i encountered a game breaking bug, if you get the heart and it takes away a heart when you have one heart, you cant die, I am not 100% sure if that is intentional, but yea
Well... you can't die at all actually :S
SPOILER ITS WAS ALL A DREAM :0 qwjfqkgks
Nice game.
I really like the overall style.
I couldn't beat the boss, though :(
Anyways, congrats on making it! If you have some time, I'd love if you checked out my game! ;)
I'll just take a cheeky way of advertising myself if you want to see the process of how I made this game here's a video on the jam :) Thanks in advance! It's short!
I love the little minions lol.
I love the little minions lol.
I really think the lighting here was well done! The way the shadows make the ground brighter sort of is really cool!
Nice sound design, gameplay and style, good job!
A pretty good short game, with satisfying sound effects and appealing graphics. I think with a couple more levels and gameplay, and this would be a satisfying dungeon crawler. Good work!
Oh wow thank you! Hmm maybe after my current project I'll consider it!
Twas a dream. Nice game. Felt really smooth and the visuals are kool as well.
Thanks man!
Good game! The art looks clean and fun and the combat feels satisfying. However, I would've liked to see more things be connected to the theme gameplay-wise. Enemies pretending to be friendly and friendlies pretending to be enemies, perhaps? The ending was quite funny though so I'll give it a pass ;)
OH man that would have been a great idea! How did i not think of that?
I was completely lost on the jam theme and ideas the entire way through.
Thanks for the nice comment!
