Pretty solid game with fun mechanics!
Visuals are really original :o I really like the black ball with the red eyes. It would be nice to work a little more on music and sound effects in order to better enjoy the game ! Good job :)
thank you for playing my game I really appreciate it. the sounds honestly were rushed xD
Nice art nice game, good job
Thank you for playing!
I liked the game especially the third level :)
you're the first one to say that.. Thank you for playing!!
Nice game for a weeks work! The graphics and sound effects could definitely be worked on and it was very easy because the flowers and balls didn't do any damage. I liked the story and it had a cool concept so well done! :D
the flowers reduce reduce timer by 5 seconds... It would have been weird to add a health bar to an already dead man haha... The audio was made in like 20 seconds so yeah I know it sucks and the art work was made with either a mouse or the 2011 Galaxy Note which lags a lot xD. Thank you for playing
I couldn't figure out the last riddle so I didn't finish the game.
The levels are designed in a strange way, I didn't understand what the flowers did to you when they hit you, same goes for the supermarioish black ball. The collider of the door in the first stage is miles away from the actual door.
It's weird that between the stages the camera zoom changes. Also the text box from the third stage is active even when you move so it get filles all the times with wwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww and ddddddddddddddddddddd and so on..
The art is kinda cute, I didn't undestrand the audio track, was it fire foley? So why is there fire in Purgatory?
There's a lot of things to improve, keep going and good luck!
Thank you for your review and yes I have noticed the door collider it worked fine in the unity game scene and I thought it would be the same but apparently it changed somehow
The flower seeds they shoot reduce time by 5seconds since the game theme was lie I added a text in first level that said “the fruit of the plants basic providers to sustain life” but since you are dead they don’t help you
The marioish ball (no name for it) was to fool everyone in level 1 since they do literally nothing but in level 2 they reduce timer by 10 seconds
The answer to the riddle of level 3 is origin “the start to everthing” and then you travel back to the origin of the spiral to end thr level
The firey sound was me crumbling plastic bags lol
I was gonna add text updates for the flower and coins and the black cannon ball thing but when I did that for some reason the entire scene was getting distorted and since I was short on time I decided to just remove that all together for now
Rated! I was confused. money root of evil? money is the root of good!
also, the buttons didn't work... giant thing grabbing me. the key in a lock. door...
but I liked it - definitely a lot of promise here, the goofiness of the lies and buttons, I like that - and getting grabbed and dragged - that was cool - a very inventive mind!
just got stuck. maybe bugged out?
I am not sure why Some players are getting stuck on the button tbh you just collide the character eith it and the cage opens! :) but there are 2 buttons one closes the cage other opens it. To collect the key you just have to walk right to it and done :D. But thank you for playing I really appreciate it I plan on making a longer and more complete and clean version of this game the entire art work was made in one day on a Galaxy Note (the one released in 2011 it lags like holy hell lol and is not precise like a wacom) thank you for playing!!
Audio could've been better. Hit boxes was pretty weird. Some flowers had colliders and some doesn't. Art can be improved.
I really liked the story but I see the lack of experience in your game.
Never give up on making video games. Learn more coding, art, and sound design. Make more games! You'll get far if you practice, so don't worry!
Thank you for playing! I honestly didn’t notice the collider issue with some flowers xD I may have accidentally used the non prefab version... thank you for your feeback!! I started making games just 2 months ago so I understand the point of lack of experience:3

I think that some sounds would help to put everything together.
I've reached the point where you're asked about a code with an input and didn't know how to continue.
you just have to answer the riddles if it is too hard maybe I will post the answers to them
Got stuck right at tje bginning when I couldn't figure out how to press a button... I wont rate it yet as i dont want to rate something where I only played 3 minutes, but I will play it again if you can explain to me how to press the buttons...
You’re just required to touch the button with your character (it was in the monologue near the button :) ) there are 2 buttons touching one opens the cage to the key and the other closes the cage
I did, and tried it with each button individually. Does not work.
Ill try again later. Sorry.
same here, i touched each side once, checked again... went back... from top, side... clicked... but very cool use of scale and space!
There are 2 buttons! :3 one closes the cage other opens it
I saw both! maybe I collided with both when doing my test :p
the furthest opens it right?
The one that’s least protected opens the cage it’s straight down below the starting point
Your game looks good. Its has a cohesive art style and it is pretty well designed. Also thanks for playing our game!
Thank you for playing my game much appreciated
Thank you for playing my game much appreciated
The art style was quirky and I liked the idea but unfortunately I got stuck at the green envelope. It said to press the button but I couldn't see any. Probably missed something.
You just have to collide the character with thr button (:
Nice game, the background noise kinda drove me crazy tho.
Thank you for playing!!
Tried it out. I'd add some sort of feedback that text was appearing on screen, maybe a sound effect, or add a background too it. Still, good effort!
thank you for your feedback I plan on releasing a full version soon with better graphics and sounds!
Hey! Checked out your game. It's cute and fits the theme :) Maybe some sound effects on the collection of the coins and background. Particle effects can make the environment look more immersive. Good effort and don't give up! Keep doing this :D

Thank you for your feedback! solo developer here and I also couldn't skip school so this game was kinda rushed but I plan on releasing a full version of it in the near future!
good starting :) this jam was the hardest one as you are not allowed to use free 3rd party assets. don't forget to try other jams as well. then you can use all the free assets in unity assets store
also don't use the defaults fonts. pick one from www.dafont.com and you can directly use it in unity
Thank you for trying out my game and your suggestions I will be certainly keeping that font idea in mind for my future project I plan on making this game completely taking my time with it as a personal project..maybe I’ll have it on playstore or just here on itch
Well done for your first game. :) Was also my first jam! I think you created a great take on the theme, and though the artwork is a bit rude, it definitely has its charm!
Thank you for trying out my game much appreciated! The art work was entirely made with the 2011 Galaxy note.. it didn’t have the precision on s-pen ... and then i took inspiration from the great bear grylls.. improvise. Adapt. Overcome. Lol
hi,
I played your game. To be honest with you, your lack of experience can be seen in your game. This doesn't mean you should give up. It means that there is still a lot to learn. I would suggest making your next game in 3d because you are using a mouse and it is really hard to draw with a mouse. On the other hand you can also make games with pixel art. Finally i would suggest you watching unity scripting beginner series. The really helped me out when I was making my game.
Thank you for playing my game I appreciate it and you're right there is a long list of things to learn for me .... would you be kind enough to share the link of the tutorial series ? Most of my work has been in python and Machine Learning, game development is definitely something new for me. Also could you suggest some beginner friendly 3D modelling software?
Unity 3d, Unity official tutorials for beginner scripting(the new ones). Unity recently started supporting boo which is very similar to python. Also C# is pretty easy to learn. For 3d modelling I would suggest blender 2.8 because they changed the ui and it's now very easy. My game was using my first Blender model.
Thank you! I appreciate it
I thought this was fun! care to checkout my submission? https://itch.io/jam/cgj/rate/476834
Interesting little game--not a theme you usually see! The game design was pretty fair; I understood the theme and goals of the game right away, and I didn't get lost or confused.
The audio was rather hell-like, but not deliberately, I think. It was annoying, to say the least--at the very least, the loop should have been longer.
The graphics were fine, given the time constraints. Unfortunately, I didn't really get the feeling of being in hell. There was no real sense of horror or doom.
Also, I found a nearly game-breaking bug: in the 2nd level, I got caught in a wall. While I thought this would probably end my game, it turned out to be a way around the level's puzzles! Still, you might want to fix it.
Finally, while I commend you for coming up with some new questions for the gatekeeper to ask, as opposed to the usual Riddle of the Sphynx-type stuff, I got caught on the second question on the third level, and, lacking any way to save and come back, that ended my game. Maybe a hint feature?
All in all, a fun and different little game with a few flaws that could be mended. Thanks for writing this game!
P.S. Please don't bother going to try and review my game--it never got finished, so there's no game posted there.
Hi! thank you for your review of the game I really appreciate the constructive criticism.
I did intend to have a little more doom and hell-ish feel to it but there was only so much I could do with the characters and environment considering I drew them on a Samsung Galaxy Note (the og released in 2011 it's super laggy).
The audio was made on the last day because I completely forgot that the sound was a criteria for judgement the same goes for the riddles in level 3 they were like an end moment decision (but I plan on working on this game in the future taking my time with it so an update is definitely on the horizon.
This was my first ever game jam and the 3rd game I have ever made I had fun while making this game the adrenaline felt good! Thank you so much for your review and playing this game I really appreciate it!
