A top down sword game??? Was that even possible? I somehow managed to complete the first level... and had fun doing it. But how does it relate to the theme of the jam?
The "spirit" you were talking was a dude behind a desk. He lied to you, making you to think that he was the spirit of the game

Nice game with interesting fight system. The only thing I would change is I will make it easier because it was too hard for me (This might be just me though because I am bad at these games)

Really cool, good job! I like the fighting, could be cool to have different traps for the 3 different rooms to mix things up a little and make them more interesting
I really liked the fighting system controlling the sword with mouse. I wish the character movement was slower
