The music and clear visuals are great. Love the way the rubbish piles up in the background for example if you don’t collect it. The arcade style gameplay is addictive and I love how much different type of waste you have to collect which shows the complexity of how many different bins/processes are actually needed to sort through it properly

Future improvements

  • I know many others have said this but the controls are incredibly difficult to memorize since there are so many different types of rubbish. I guess doing this mirrors the complexity of the sorting process itself which is an interesting point, but its also feels unfair gameplay wise when I select the wrong bin by accident. Perhaps some form of onscreen prompt would be helpful here which I don’t think would takeaway from your messaging as you still have to look it up quickly.
  • I could almost imagine this being like a Guitar Hero game maybe called Waste Hero with different key presses for different trash (imagine a huge guitar/keyboard with the different waste on them). Obviously a very different game from this but the cool music and fast paced nature of this game kind of lends itself well to something like that I feel and it could be a cool alternative take on this

Really enjoyed playing this challenging game well done

My high score was 305 ( I wasn't that great at playing it) the controls were tricky to memorise but it was addictive to play and I was starting to get better at it.

It's a great arcade-style game and I like how it shows the variety of things that can be recycled, it would be good at getting people to think of what else can I recycle.

Cool lil arcade style game! My brain doesnt work well at remembering all the different buttons for the pickups but i imagine with time itll feel more natural! considering the time you made the game in its a super well rounded game!

Hahaha, I have it the same, it is quite difficult to remember the keys for each container :D

Thanks for playing!

I'm an absolute fan of the visuals which I think work really well in sending the message about rubbish piling up! It's not only a great message, but also a good UX choice.

The variety of rubbish in the game is impressive and adds a whole level of depth to the game too! Though I did sometimes find myself forgetting the control scheme so an in-game UI to remind me would go a long way.

There is a lot of depth and content for a game produced in 72 hours, great job!

Thanks a lot for the feedback and kind words. It's true that some UI, that would remind the controls would be a good addition gameplay-wise, but this was the way we tried to show that recycling can sometimes be confusing. Not knowing exactly what to throw where is one of the reasons why many people do not recycle at all.

We are glad you enjoyed the game :)

Oh I didn't think about that, that's quite a good way of looking at it

I love the visuals and audio! The mechanics are nice, but it would be helpful to have a wee control scheme shown in-game, instead of having to memorise it or try to guess the correct one :) I like how there is a lot of different types to sort, and my high score is 425 :)

Thanks! I'm the one responsible for the art and music so your feedback is heartwarming to me :)

We hid the controls intentionally to make the game slightly more challenging, and imo it's actually pretty fun and rewarding if you manage to memorise everything. I managed to get above 1000 at one point during testing, try beating that! :P

We are glad you liked the game and thanks for playing!

That's pretty fair with the controls needing to be memorised, it actually reminds me of how Papers, Please work in terms of having to remember each country's cities of issue and stamps 😊

I just played for some time again and got 750 so I am getting closer! 😄
