Really liked the visuals PSX style graphics are so much fun to look at. You have no idea how excited I was to rip out my Xbox controller out for this one, and it seems like there was a ton of polish to this one, having an extensive settings menu and even more lore within audio files and text files outside of the game itself. Neat stuff here, love the Resident Evil style gameplay, feels like a love letter to RE1 and Silent Hill 2. The cultists showing up behind the gates scared the hell out of me. I really wished I could have finished but I encountered a bug inside the house that got my camera stuck inside the bedroom's camera. Even when I'd hold down L2 on my controller to use the player camera, it seemed to get stuck on it. It happened again outside with the lone cultist in an alley way. But I see you've been insanely dedicated and rolling out bug fixes which is awesome.  Not sure if it was supposed to play into something but the game turned on my laptop's webcam.

Thanks so much for the awesome feedback! I’m thrilled to hear the PSX-style visuals and Resident Evil/Silent Hill-inspired mechanics hit the mark for you—I really wanted to capture that nostalgia while adding some new twists, so it’s fantastic that you enjoyed those touches!

Sorry to hear about the camera bug. I’m actively working on refining the transitions to make them smoother on hardware where it’s been a bit glitchy. There’s actually quite a bit more content after the house area, so I hope you’re able to check it out once the fixes are rolled out!

And yep, the webcam is part of the final reveal—without spoiling too much, it’s used to create a moment I think you’ll enjoy! There is a disclaimer about it on the main page as well, but it’s a bit hidden in the lore, so I apologize for that. Thanks again for giving it a go, and I hope you’re able to finish it up with the updates soon!

Very interesting concept of about breaking the 4th wall between the game and the player. The graphics are great and the huge selection of options is a nice addition. Couldn't get the PS5-controller working though, but that might be an issue on my end. The camera changes were sometimes a bit frustrating and I wish I could have toggled on the third person mode instead of holding the button down. I also noticed the crates couldn't be broken down with the pipes which felt a bit odd. The game has incredibe amount of content in it for a two week developement time. I really like the world and atmosphere you have created for it. Fantastic job on the game!

Thanks so much for checking out the game! I’m really glad you enjoyed the fourth wall elements and atmosphere—we put a lot into creating that immersive vibe, so it’s awesome to hear it landed well!

PS5 controller compatibility has been a bit hit-or-miss due to a known Unreal Engine issue, but I’ll definitely be working on a fix for that post-jam! Also, good catch on the pipe not breaking crates—totally agree that it’d feel more natural, and that’ll be an easy fix to have in place soon.

Thanks again for all the feedback and for diving into Requiem!

Really nice game! Loved the old PS-stylisation in visuals and controller, the location is pretty large but doesn't look empty.  I wish I signed up for submission so I could vote.  Well done!

Sincerely, thank you so much!

Excellent game! Overall it had a lot going on for it, the graphics were great although sometimes janky but that is part of making an experience like a ps 1 game and I like that, as for the audio, great use of it, very effective. I would say this is a great game! Thank you for making it!

Thank you so much for streaming your playthrough as well! I hope you can see the ending of the game sometime! :)

Bugfixes (10-25-24, 12:11pm CST):

This is a bug fix to address the following issues:

  1.  Some players didn't realize they could open doors.
  2.  Some players didn't know they could destroy crates with melee attacks.
  3.  Some players didn't realize the need to climb in two areas.
  4.  A bug where door interaction text stayed on screen indefinitely,  blocking the player from seeing other text.
  5.  A major bug where a player was unable to fit in the narrow alleyway passage, completely blocking progression.

It is a serious fix because it prevented some players from being able to progress beyond the first few minutes of the game, and constitutes:

  1.  A simple pop-up dialog in one area (the first house).
  2.  Simple widget popups when near interactable doors and ledges.
  3. Proper text removal from interactables.
  4. Improved collision in alleyway.

Great atmosphere and sound in this game! And also nice work with all the intricate settings you can adjust in the menu

Developer

Thank you so much! I’ve been really bad about factoring sound design in past projects, so I tried making it a focus here and I’m glad it makes a noticeable impact. Super happy to hear the atmosphere was on point too!
