Honestly my favourite game of the jam. I enjoyed making orders!

Developer

Thanks so much for playing and the high praise!

First look at the game, it feels very polished with the Lofi music in the background really adding alot of atmosphere and mood into the game. Like some other comments have said there seems to be small bugs thoughout the play through which at times can be annoying (I had a hard time combining different ingridients together, sometimes worked sometimes didnt for the same items.),  the sound effect of the wrong move is kinda obnoxious.

Last thing about the big instruction manual at the start of the game it was really long to read through and it i think its such a missed opportunity to put all the cooking recipes in the same book at the beginning so that the player isnt just guessing around for the recipes (i know may not have been easy to achieve with the time).

BUT I really liked the idea for the game is really solid and it felt really polished to play with. Really good job to what can be achieve with such a short time! for future it'll be probbaly good to make it more satisfying to make the foods.

Thanks so much for playing the game and all the great feedback!

There was a very annoying bug that I couldn't manage to fix during the jam were the frying, boiling, chopping or merging items created 2 items and then that messed with your mouse and picking up and placing things. A few people have said that the error sound effect was annoying, that there was to much reading at the start and that the recipes should be in the guidebook so if I get time ill see what I can to do improve these.

Hopefully after the jam ill get an update out soon. Thanks again for all the feedback.

very fun and looks very polished! it would be good to add list of recipes somewhere because some were very hard (couldn't figure how to do vege pasta or meatballs!!). also found a bug that when i did a cheesburger it disappeared :(

i REALLY like the idea, the game is very fun and quite easy to learn. some other notes: i think there was wayy to much stuff to read at the beginning, but i know there's a lot to explain and time is really short in the jam to do a tutorial! also the "error noise" (the one that is playing when cant put the food onto the knife etc.) is kinda irritating :P

i'll def follow you to see how it goes!!

Thanks for playing and for all the feedback! I wanted to add the recipes to the guidebook but ran out of time, so I ended up just putting them on the itch page. The cheeseburger sprite seems to be broken. Hopefully, if I get some free time after the jam, ill fix up the bugs and release an update. I'll see what I can do to try and lessen the amount of reading and maybe find a better sound for the error noise. Thanks again for playing and the follow.

I enjoyed the game x)

Do you have a list of recipes somewhere?

pasta with meatball did not make pasta and meatball

Developer

Thanks for playing! I had a list of recipes at the bottom of the itch page. Ya, due to a lack of time spend on testing some of the recipes were not working.

A really cool game! The art is great!

A few small things I noticed:
1. The sprite for the cheeseburger seems to be missing, at least for me it's always invisble.
2. The customers never accept the cheeseburger. Whenever an order includes one it's never successful.
3. One time a customer wanted a "tomato and cheese toastie", I made a "cheese and tomato toastie" and they were not happy with that.

Regarding points 2 and 3:
Do you do a string comparison to check if the right things were made?
That would explain point 3 and also point 2 because what I can make is a "cheese burger" and what the customers want is a "cheesebruger" (notice the missing whitespace and the typo).

But all in all this was a very enjoyable game.
And because there is no time limit you can experiment to your hearts content to find the correct recipies.
A very good job overall!

Thanks for playing and all the feedback! Im no artist but I tried my best with the art so glad you enjoyed it.

Didnt get much time to actually do much playtesting. So a few bugs like the missing sprite on the cheeseburger could have been avoided if only I had left some more time to playtest.

I put all possible customer orders in a list and just picked a few at random when spawning a customer. Think I must have misspelled a few meals in that list so when I was comparing them to what was served the customer thought they got the wrong meal.

Hopefully if I get some time ill release an updated build after the jam which fixes alot of the smaller bugs.

Such a complete game in such a short time! Great work, I had a lot of fun trying different combinations and seeing what worked! I had a couple times I thought I had an order made right but the customer got mad anyway! (just like real customers)

You use a lot of slang that I do not use over here so it was neat to figure out what a “fish finger” was

Thanks for playing my game!

I think what happens is sometimes a customer will ask for steak and chips. Then if you give them a steak and a chips separately on the plate, it doesn't count the same as steak and chips meal which you get for combining a steak and chips.

Thinking back it probaly would have made more sense if you just had to place the different parts of a meal e.g. steak and chips on the plate instead of having to combine them.

You wrote that there are Windows and Linux versions, but there is only a Linux executable.

Developer (3 edits) (+1)

Oh sorry. Didn't even notice that for some reason the Windows version was checked as the HTML version and because of that you could not download it. Should be fixed now. Thanks for notifying me!

It was hard! even with the recipes, I couldn't find all of them. The whole thing was complete and well executed. Good Job!

Thanks!
