A bit confusing to know where to go or what to do, but still interesting to play two dungeon at the same time, and I kinda liked the name of the dungeon and the Rage-Quit control in the help menu made me laugh hehe
Just a pity I had to give up due to lack of indication to know where to go next. I found some sort of red cucumber with the Fire Dungeon and struggled at leaving the room. For the blue dungeon, I searched the place but didn't found my way and I always end up dying from the encounter at the end.
But overall, it's a promising game with great visual, ambience and pleasing music which I enjoyed a lot!
Thanks for testing =) I'll add some kind of hints somewhere for little extra help. The story text tells what to do but not how. There are somewhat hidden stuff in the fire dungeon that you need to find to be able to finish the game
It looks like my fire character is stuck at the start of the game and is not moving, while ice character able to walk freely, but I seem to unable to find a way out on it. Maybe missing some turns, but looks like I already run through whole area and through all available spots without traps. Is there some kind of trigger to make fire character move or it just not working for me at all? :(
Sounds and music also were not playing for some reason on my first run. Works fine now, though - no idea what fixed it either.
Yeah, both of those are bugs that I've fixed but can't update the game until the jam ends. There will be new stuff too.
The "block" with a candle next to the fire man is kind of like inverted so it lets you in but not out...sorry =P
Sounds actually gets paused if game window gets focus e.g getting back to game after alt+tabbing. If focus is lost sounds would be resumed but because game doesn't run while unfocused, you don't hear anything. I hope that's the case and not something else too?
You'll need both characters if you want to finish the game.
We will try to launch it on another computer, since it looks like on mine fire character stuck all the time for some reason :< And first launch of the game there was no sound through whole my play - so it didn't return for some reason (I might alt-tabbed, though there was no sound at start either I think. Bug didn't repeat itself for me, so it was a bit odd one)
I greeted my buddy.
I love dungeons featuring multiple dungeon mechanics and I love hard games so obviously I immensely enjoyed this one.
Good job.
Congratz. Hell'o World thanks you ;) Indeed. A challenging game is a good thing.
That's a really cool game. Overall I really enjoyed it ! Congrats!
Overall, a solid entry. Nice work!
Overall, a decent entry. Could definitely use some polish but it is tough to make a full game in just 7 days. Nice Job!
Thanks. I agree on those issues. There are already many things in my todo list =)
Nice integration of the theme, cool graphics. Really like the combat also. I like it! Only thing, one time i think i ran into a bug and ended in a 1 by 1 room, but that was early in the run and restarting fixed it.
Thanks =) Yeah, such a bug was found next to the grid of the starting position. I built the map wrong accidentally and can't update it yet during voting I think
True, I am also struggeling with that. Cannot update game files untill the voting is over. It is what it is but the bug I encountered in your game really was just minor IMO
Theme was well done, felt like a classic maze experience, not bad at all! Traps were a pain though, I died several times due to not seeing them on time and having to restart.
Thanks, glad you liked it =) The "water" side will be improved later because I ran out of time
Controls/ Gameplay
The combat is rather basic but seems to work ok. It would have been nice to have different abilities between the two characters. Even if it was as simple as changing the words.
If you die the game just closes completely forcing you to have to relaunch it.
There seem to be traps littered throughout the level, which cause a small amount of damage to the fire character but you die in two hits on the water character. This combined with the fact that they are difficult to see is very frustrating, especially as they don’t disappear after you walk over them.
It is also possible to walk through some of the walls.
I’m not sure if you’re supposed to bring one character to the other, but I couldn’t find a way to do this.
Graphics
When in combat the water enemy continues to walk towards you which is a bit weird. You can also barely see the water enemy apart from the glowing eyes.
I do like the enemy design of the demon dog creature that you fight as the fire character. It has a nice amount of detail while sticking to the art style.
There are some noticeable seams showing in the textures of the walls on the corners, but this doesn’t detract much and is only really noticeable if you are looking for it.
The level design does feel very copy and paste with not much variety.
Music
No music plays although it is credited with music so I can only assume that this is a bug.
Sound Effects
If you alt tab back into the game it sometimes plays a horrible loud noise that plays for a moment but it is very painful to listen to.
Apart from this no sounds play but there are sounds credited so I can only assume that this is a bug.
Story
A bit basic, but I do like the play on the old “Hello World!” that any programmer will recognize.
Theme
Duality is somewhat present. You play as two different elements and fight different enemies, but they do the same damage and have the same AI.
User Interface
The main menu is a little basic, but does all it needs to.
The combat interface is basic, but works.
Additional Notes
None
Thank you. That's right. You have to bring the characters together. There are 2 ways to do it.
You have really thought about the feedback. So much of it =D Good points that I'll take care of later. Sounds seems to be bugged in some cases then
Your welcome :) It was certainly an interesting concept :)
I really like it, but for some reason i can't pickup some items and i can walk through some walls and get stuck in them.
PS: Please remove the mechanic that your game will get closed when you die it's not something that horrible but can be annoying
Nice, thanks =) Good feedback too. I'll update the game after voting ends.
Do you remember what and where it happened when you got stuck? I'll try to fix it but I couldn't find any reason. About items, it's probably because an item is close to you but not on the same grid as you are. It can be kind of confusing so I'll replace picking up to use mouse.
Yes, retry and quit buttons will be there later.
right at the start in the hell-ish dungeon, you can strafe into the pillar with candle on it.
Thanks...found & fixed. I had accidentally built those grids wrong even though it looked correct xD
